CAS Colours & Sketches #378

Super excited to announce that I am the Guest Designer this month over at CAS Colours & Sketches!  They alternate challenges each week between colors and sketches.  This week, we are having a color challenge.  The featured colors are Gorgeous Grape, Granny Apple Green and Pacific Point.

The first thing that came to mind was the flower images in the A Million Little Things stamp set.  I just love the style of the drawings in this set and the sentiments are perfect for the times.  Here is a look at the complete set-

To create my card, I started by die cutting a panel of Tim Holtz watercolor paper with a Stitched Rectangle die.  I then stamped my images in Black pigment ink and clear embossed.  Color was added with Kuretake watercolors.  A few "splatters" were added with Nuvo drops. The finished project is super simple with a great pop of color!

The Paper Players #498

Happy Sunday!  I hope everyone is recovering from the July 4th festivities! Ann is hosting a new challenge for us this week at The Paper Players, Fun and Fancy Folds.  This was truly a challenge for me....as you will rarely see me venture pass your basic card shapes.  While I love adding layers to my cards....they are usually all featured on one side!  I hope you will accept the challenge and come join us!

Since Fun and Fancy Folds are not in my normal tool box of toys....I ventured out to Google to see what caught my eye.  While, I love many of the free standing fun folding designs.....I do actually mail  my cards and don't want them to appear possibly confusing to the recipient.  I went with a design featured on Michelle's blog at Owl Star Stampers.  I went with this style of card, because it is super simple and allows me to add as many layers as I please!  Now, to the next challenging part....photographing said card!

The card actually opens from the right and the left.  I inked up the new Fabulous Flamingo stamp set and paired it with the Brushed Paper Collection.  The fun mix of pinks and greens was perfect for a tropical scene.  I stamped my flamingo in Intense Black ink and added color with Copics.  The flamingo was popped up with 3-D foam tape for added dimension.  I stamped my greenery frame with Fern ink, slightly overlapping the images.  I added in water at the bottom with Lagoon ink, sponging on additional ink to soften my stamped waves.  Here is a look at the complete stamp set-
This set is available with or without Thin Cut dies....I highly recommend the Thin Cuts...especially for those flamingo legs!  The card opens up to additional layers on the inside.  There is also plenty of room to add a gift card.

My inside sentiment is from the exclusive stamp set featured in the Craft with Heart cardmaking subscriptions.  The sentiment was perfect to coordinate with my You are Fabulous sentiment on the front.  We certainly need more fabulous people to spread some world kindness at the moment!

My favorite part about this card, it folds up to a standard A2 sized card!  No special envelopes or postage needed!  The base layer is 4 1/4" by 8 1/2", scored at 3".  The inner base is 3" x 8", scored at 4".  You can easily downsize the measurements to add as many layers as you would like.

Freshly Made Sketches #442

If you have an outdoor enthusiast in your life, the Timber Collection is for you!  Needless to say, I "needed" the whole collection! We are truly in the outdoors in Wyoming. I created my card with the new Timber Cardmaking Collection.  I seriously had to have this collection for the exclusive stamp set that is included!  Here is a look at the complete set-

The set comes with supplies and instructions to create 16 cards, 4 each of 4 designs....but feel free to branch out and create your own!  I used the diamond shaped die to cut out three shapes to go along with the sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches-

For my sentiment, I first inked the stamp in New England Ivy ink and then rolled the edges into Ruby ink.  The coordinating die makes the perfect outline!  My card felt a little too plain on a white background, so I dry embossed with the Stitched Circles Embossing folder and added a Stitched Frame in New England Ivy to pull it all together.  The Stitched Frames are on the retiring list and are only available while supplies last! A few clear sequins for bubbles finish off the card.

C.R.A.F.T. Challenge #562

I am super excited to be a Guest Designer today over at the C.R.A.F.T Challenge blog.  They are having an Anything Goes Challenge, sponsored by Sweet & Sassy stamps.  Sweet & Sassy has a huge favorite of digital stamps.  I was drawn to the Magnolia Block stamp.  It is one of those large stamps that can totally stand alone.  I slightly struggled with my color scheme.  Magnolia trees are so not common in my area and a google search showed me basically the classic white and a brighter pink version.  I was in need of a sympathy card and just didn't feel the brighter pink was going to be appropriate.  I first colored my flower in a very pale cream and felt it needed a bit more pop.  I added a bit more color and went over the upturned edges of each petal with a clear shimmer brush. I heat embossed my sentiment and popped up the sentiment panel with 3-D foam tape for added dimension. A few clear sequins finish off the card.
