Dreamin Big Thanks

I found a few minutes to create this weekend....and had high hopes of entering the Mojo Monday #492 Challenge!  I missed the deadline by a mere minute.  If it were not for my slow internet connection out in the boonies, we might have made it!  I was able to enter my link, but at the very last click, it locked me out!  Bummer, it was still a nice sketch to play with, you just will not be seeing it in the gallery!  Here is a look at the sketch my card is based on,

My card is created with the Dreamin Big paper packet from the Seasonal Expressions catalog.  While I have used some of the floral prints on my card...there is a super cute bug side to the papers as well.  I love that this paper pack is universal for boy and or girl projects!  The Seasonal Expressions catalog is coming to a close at the end of this month.  If you have any items on your wish list, I would suggest getting them now, as items are starting to sell out.  Here is a peak of all of the papers included in the pack-

The thanks sentiment on my card, is actually a thin cut die, that I have cut multiple times.  I adhered three layers of cardstock together.  I then inked up the sentiment in Goldrush pigment ink and then clear embossed to give it a shiny raised image.  While I love the monochromatic look of my card, the thanks just blended into the background as plain cardstock. The glossy surface makes it pop! The decorative strip behind my panel is a piece of goldrush cardstock that I embossed with a chevron embossing folder for added texture.

Hello Lovely

Super excited to announce that I am doing a Guest Designer spot over at Try Stampin on Tuesday!  I won their Birthday Challenge with my Moose card that was recently posted.  I have totally changed gears for this one and broke out the flowers!  My card is mostly created with supplies from the Hello Lovely line from Close to My Heart.  My card is based on the following sketch design:

My first thought when I saw this sketch was to create a wedding card with bells in place of the tags.  I was all set to complete my card with tons of layers and frilly lace.............until reality set in that I did not have any wedding bells stamps and the late hour meant that free handing was out of the question.  I am in serious withdrawal from my die collection.  Hand cutting banners is about my limit!  I decided to skip the wedding idea and do a fun spring card instead.

I created my flower cluster with the Hello Lovely Complements.  I added foam for dimension and layered multiple images together to create my cluster.  The details are hard to see in the photo...and we all know it is all about the details!  I added a bit of shimmer to my flower arrangement and to my embossed background with the new gold shimmer brush.

Another attempt to show you the depth and detail of my card.  I added lots of texture!  After embossing my fern cardstock, I used my shimmer brush on the raised image.....leaving a golden shimmer on the embossed image.  Sadly, you do not get the full effect with the photo!

Masculine Deer Birthday Card

I have numerous guy birthdays in March.  I created another masculine birthday card with the Nature's Wish stamp set.  You will rarely see me create the exact same card.  All of my cards tend to be original.  The rare exception is gift sets and mass production of Christmas cards.  This card utilizes all of the same supplies as my Moose card shown here.

I added a scrap of burlap and more distressing to the inside.  The papers are once again White Daisy cardstock washed in watercolors.  I let dry and then stamped my sentiments in Cocoa pigment ink.

Nature's Wish Moose Birthday

My crafting time and crafting supplies have been very limited lately. Long story short in my roller coaster life, I have become separated from my crafting supplies. Crafting has kept me sane over the years, so I am slowly rebuilding.  For those of you who have known me for some time....you know I could not live without burlap for long! I have been known to add burlap to any project...but it is the perfect texture for a masculine card. In the past I was the crafter with every color of cardstock and coordinating ink.....now not so much!  So, you will be seeing a lot of improvising as I rebuild my craft room. My card was created with one of my favorite stamp sets from Close to My Heart, D1703 Nature's Wish.  This set features great outdoor life images and a selection of versatile sentiments.  Here is a look at the complete set-

My card is based on the sketch challenge this week at Try Stampin on Tuesday.

I wanted my card to have an earthy feel to it.  While the burlap was a great start....I only had bright pattern and White Daisy cardstock.  Watercolors to the rescue.  I simply diluted my watercolors and washed the White Daisy cardstock and the pattern paper with watercolors to remove the harsh white finish.  I love that my white panel has an almost wood look to it now.  I stamped my images and distressed the edges of all layers with Cocoa pigment ink.  I love the end result, though it did take some a little outside of the box thinking to accomplish it.
