Fanfare Birthday Card

I created this festive birthday card for the sketch challenge this week at Deconstructing Jen.  The vast majority of my cards are completed with more muted natural colors.  It was a nice break to play with the bright primary colors.  Here is the original sketch design:

All supplies by Close To My Heart, except where noted:

X7138B Fanfare Level 2 Paper Packet
X5923 Sunny Yellow Cardstock
D1475 Card Chatter-Birthday
Z2116 Cranberry Ink
Z2192 Pacifica Ink
Z1225 Flurry Dimensional Elements
Z1103 Cranberry Grosgrain
Z679 Liquid Glass
B29 Ultramarine Copic Sketch
Y15 Cadmium Yellow Copic Sketch
RV29 Crimson Copic Sketch
Die-namics Crown Border by MFT
Die-namics Fancy Flourish by MFT

I made the glossy stars with the Dimensional Elements, Copic Markers and Liquid Glass.

I started with the plain Dimensional Element Stars.  I colored the stars to match my Close To My Heart papers with the Copic Markers.  I then coated the colored star with Liquid Glass and let dry.  The result is a shiny epoxy like star embellishment.  I prefer to color items with Copic markers vs. the dye ink based markers when the item will be coated in Liquid Glass.  I have found that Liquid Glass will often change the color of dye based markers.  I do not seem to have that problem with the alcohol based markers.  With this technique you can custom make your own embellishments to match your projects.

I have also entered this card in the following challenges:

Card Crafters Circle-Make it Colorful
Catch the Bug-Anything Goes
Fussy & Fancy-Happy Birthday
Simon Says Stamp-New Something (New Dies)
Tuesday Throwdown-Something Shiny (Stars)
