April SOTM Blog Hop

Welcome to the Stamp of the Month Blog Hop!  We will be featuring April's SOTM, You Are..., a set of 15 stamps.  If you have come here from Kim's Blog, you are on the right path! The blog hop is a great big circle, so you can start here and work your way all around.  If you get lost along the way, you’ll find the complete list of participating consultants here.

This month we over 50 Close To My Heart Consultants sharing their creations using this month's SOTM and other great CTMH products on their blogs. This is simple to do - just click on the link at the end of the post on each blog to move to the next one! Here we go!

I love the versatility of the April Stamp of the Month.  My youngest is about to start T-Ball and I can see the stamps working perfect for T-Ball backgrounds.  You could make so many fun cards and scrapbook pages with the sayings as well.  My card is based on the sketch challenge this week at Deconstructing Jen.  Here is the original sketch design-

All supplies by Close To My Heart, except where noted:

Z1686 Cricut Art Philosophy Cartridge
S1204 You Are SOTM
X7145B Cruisin Paper Packet
X5668 Twilight Cardstock
1385 White Daisy Cardstock
Z1225 Dimensional Elements
Tuxedo Black Ink by Memento
Z891 VersaMark Ink Pad
Z670 Black Embossing Powder
Z1263 Bitty Sparkles
BG18 Teal Copic Sketch
Z679 Liquid Glass

All of the decorative shapes were cut with the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge. I colored my dimensional elements with the Copic Sketch and then covered with Liquid Glass.  My sayings were stamped with Memento Ink and then stamped again with VersaMark and then clear embossed.  I think my word edges come out sharper going this route vs. direct embossing with black embossing powder.

Wild Thing...

Wild Thing….you make my heart sing.  The challenge this week at CAS-ual Fridays is to create a CAS card with a song lyric as your inspiration.  Honestly, I had to think about this one for a little bit.  This little number is my interpretation.

I cut the branch and leaves with the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge.

I used a computer font, Segoe Script, at a 22 font size to make the saying on the inside.

My Peeps Easter Card

I knew I had to have the “My Peeps” stamp set the moment it was released in the new catalog.  It has been sitting in my craft room just waiting for ink!  I figure it is now or never if I am going to get Easter cards stamped!  The card is based on the sketch this week at Mojo Monday.  The challenge this week is your choice of round or square.  I really enjoyed the last round card I did, so I decided to try my hand at another.  Here is the original sketch-
Don’t get too attached to the paper that the card is made with!  I attended the American Crafts warehouse sale in Utah last year and picked it up for $1 a pack!  WooHoo, who can beat paper packs for $1.00.   The paper was meant to be a baby kit, but I thought the muted pastel colors worked perfect for an Easter Card.  All shapes with the exception of the grass have been cut with the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge.

I encourage everyone to think outside of the box with their crafting supplies.  I made my cloud background with a scallop border die.  My grass is actually an icicle border turned upside down.

Did you know you can manipulate the Close To My Heart stamps to a different shape?  I transformed the wavy Happy Easter saying to a curved saying for my circle.  I then selectively inked the saying to make it two parts!  I combined three colors of twine to bring all of the colors in the card together.  I paper pieced the eggs in the same paper and added details with a white gel pen.

FMS Sketch #28

A couple of great things about Wednesday, we closer to the weekend and we get a new sketch to play with at Freshly Made Sketches!  Here is the sketch for this week’s challenge-
Feel free to rotate the sketch or use different shapes in place of those shown.  I have chosen to rotate the sketch for my card, and added corduroy brads in place of the rectangle strips.  All supplies by Close To My Heart-

Z1686 Cricut Art Philosophy Cartridge
Retired Wings Level 2 Paper Packet
1388 Colonial White Cardstock
D1477 Universal Backgrounds
D1475 Card Chatter-Birthday
D1452 Find Your Style
Z1393 Black Mini-Medley Accents
Z2153 Sweet Leaf Ink
Z2105 Black Ink

Design Tip-I cut the butterfly and the engraved layer with the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge.  I stamped the background with the script saying and then stamped the Happy Birthday on top.  The butterfly antenna are stamped with the Butterfly stamp from the Find Your Style stamp set.  I only applied glue down the center of the butterfly, to be able to lift the wings.

I have also entered this card in the following challenges:
