Dynamic Duos #8

Time for a new challenge at Dynamic Duos!  This week we are featuring River Rock & Always Artichoke.  You are welcome to use a neutral color as well. I chose Bamboo and New England Ivy from Close To My Heart, with Kraft as my neutral color.

My card is based on the sketch challenge at Viva La Verve.  The sketch looks a little intimidating at first, but I loved working with all of the layers.

I incorporated a lot of sponging and natural textures into my card.  My Colonial White base was sponged with Bamboo ink.  I added strips of burlap to my die cut along the edge and tied my wood button with a left over strip of burlap as well.

All supplies by Close To My Heart, except where noted:
D1298 Beautiful Things
D1476 Card Chatter-Sympathy
D1477 Universal Backgrounds
Sentimental About Sympathy by MFT
1388 Colonial White Cardstock
1301 Bamboo Cardstock
Z1375 Kraft Cardstock
X5920 New England Ivy Cardstock
Retired New England Ivy B&T
Z2103 Bamboo Ink Pad
Z2135 New England Ivy
Z1387 Wooden Buttons
Burlap
Fishtail Dies by MFT
Vertical Greetings Die by MFT

I made this card with the intentions that it could be sent to a male or female.  I did not add alot of frill to the card.  Instead of adding more layers on the inside....I carried out the sponging to add texture and added a single strip of burlap to the bottom.

Some of you old timers, might recognize the plaid paper.  Years ago, Close To My Heart sold pattern paper with various designs to match their cardstock.  You received 24 sheets in each pack.  All of the papers featured one color mixed with white.  Obviously white, was not going to go well with my Kraft scheme.  I loved this paper at the time, so I have hoards of it.  I am on a mission to use what I have.  My quick fix was to ink up the paper with my Bamboo ink...the result you will see below.  Now, instead of a stark white on green plaid...I have a nicely aged green plaid that will go well with my kraft paper.  I am sure we all have tons of pattern paper, that might not be just the right color.  Trying adding some ink and see if you like the results.

I have also entered this card in the following challenges:

I have hoards of this exact same paper. I recently set it aside because the white background was too stark. Thanks for the reminder about inking it with Bamboo!!

What a great way to make more use of your designer paper by sponging it with a different colour. Love how you have done it on this one.

Oh gosh, what a lovely sympathy card this is! I really like that it is suitable for male or female--that's fairly rare. You have combined the perfect patterns to go with that tree!
