October SOTM Blog Hop

Welcome to the October Stamp of the Month Blog Hop!  We will be featuring October's Stamp of the Month, Very Merry Christmas, a set of 11 stamps.  If you have came here from Nancy's Blog, you are on the right path.  The blog hop is a great big circle, you can start here and work your way around.  If you get lost along the way, you can find a complete list of participating consultants here.

All of the shapes from Very Merry Christmas coordinate with the Cricut Artiste cartridge.  So simple to mass produce images for the upcoming holiday season.  I cut my main image with the coordinating Artiste ornament shape.  I then stamped three different images. I stamped one image on New England Ivy, one on Cranberry and one on Colonial White.  I stamped the New England Ivy and Cranberry with Versamark Ink and embossed in clear ink.  I stamped the Colonial White with Cashmere Pigment Ink and embossed in clear.  I then cut out the individual pieces and paper pieced the ornament together.  The ornament has great dimension in person!

Papercrafting with Jamberry Nails!

Taking a break in my regular postings to introduce you to Jamberry Nails!  What are Jamberry Nails you ask?  Jamberry nails are a solid film covering that can be applied directly to your nail.  They comes in a variety of styles and sizes to create your own unique look.  Children's sizes are available as well!  I am sure you are wondering how this post relates to papercrafting!  For starters, I love sharing my crafting projects with you.  Many of you have requested video tutorials.  The main reason I have not done video tutorials is because my nails are hardly ever done!  When I find the time to paint my  nails....they usually chip within days.  I would rather have bare nails than chipped nails.  No way am I having either if they are the primary object you would be seeing on my videos!  My  nails are subject to alot of abuse...whether is be from home, work, or papercrafting.  When I first read about Jamberry nails and that they last for two weeks on nails...I was so EXCITED!  So excited, that I jumped right in and signed up to be a consultant without even seeing the product in person!  I knew I had to have these!  Here is a look at my before nails-

And my nails after applying Jamberry Nail Shields-
I so prefer the after picture!  Now, I am putting them to the test.  I applied my nails yesterday.  I have since made about 5 cards, stamped wrapping paper for two birthday gifts as well as the usual amount of housework.  So far, so good.  I will be reporting back next week with how the nails are holding up.  I think most of us papercrafters subject our nails to a lot of abuse.  Between the inks and adhesives...not sure they stand a chance!  So far, all of my inks have washed off without staining.  My ATG gun adhesive peels right off the nail shield.

Here is a pic at some of the more popular styles:
There are over 300 styles available.  You can view them all here.  To jump start my venture into Jamberry Nails...I am having a Mystery Hostess party for October.  ANY order placed on my website and entered under the Oct Mystery Hostess drawing, will be entering into a drawing for the hostess gifts!  Hostess gifts include your choice of free products!  When you go to checkout, click on the Party box at the top of your check out form and click on Oct Mystery Hostess to be eligible for the drawing and free products!  The Mystery Hostess party will close on Oct 20, 2012.  Feel free to e-mail me with any questions.  Want to see a sample before you buy???  E-mail me and I will be happy to send you a sample to try!

Thanks for stopping by!

Dynamic Duos #22

This week's challenge at Dynamic Duos is Mix n Match!  Dynamic Duos picks one color, you pick the other for your creation!  The Dynamic Duo color is Cherry Cobbler.  Make your creation with Cherry Cobbler and one other color, neutrals are allowed as well.  I chose Cranberry (for Cherry Cobbler) and New England Ivy from Close To My Heart.  I also incorporated Colonial White and Kraft as my neutrals.

My layered poinsettia was made with help from the Cricut Artiste cartridge.  I added "veins" with a stylus to give the leaves more dimension.  I went for an aged vintage look with my card.  I layered my sentiment onto my stamped background and then sponged on Desert Sand ink.  I distressed my kraft paper as well.  I stamped the same musical background on the kraft paper and then misted with water, crumpled, laid flat to dry and then applied to my card base.

The poinsettia was really simple to make and creates a stunning focal point on my card.  It is amazing what a little bit of dry embossing will do for die cuts.  You can emboss die cuts with embossing folders for added texture or flip the design over and create your own look with a stylus.  I free hand drew in veins on the leaves and then added more distressing to bring my poinsettia to life.

Freshly Made Sketches #54

Our sketch this week at Freshly Made Sketches is brought to us by Jennifer Timko.  The moment I saw it, I knew it was a snowflake card in the making.  I especially like making snowflake cards in non traditional colors.  Any color of the rainbow is fair game for me, when it comes to snowflakes!  I went with a rustic look for this card.

My designer paper is from the Christmas Cottage Collection by Teresa Collins. Fairly certain I purchased the pack just for this rustic snowflake and woodgrain paper!  My snowflakes were cut with the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge. These are my favorite snowflakes for layering!  There is even a stamp set to match!  Since I cut my snowflakes with pattern paper, I kept the stamping to the inside of the card.

For those that are interested in measurements.  My card is 5" x 5" in size.  My large snowflake and layer were cut at 3".  The smaller snowflake and layer were cut at 1 3/4".

My sentiment is a sneak peek of the upcoming October Stamp of the Month, Very Merry Christmas!

Dynamic Duos #21

Time for a new color duo at Dynamic Duos!  The week we are having a monochromatic color duo, Always Artichoke and Certainly Celery.  I chose New England Ivy & Sweet Leaf by Close To My Heart.

My card is based on the sketch challenge this week at Merry Monday-

My ornament design is cut with the Cricut Artiste cartridge.  The ornament is quite glittery in person...but the glitter is not captured well in the photo.  I cut my coordinating shapes and then ran the bottom layer through my Xyron.  I then "thought" I applied Prisma Glitter to my image.  Something seemed a little off with my prisma glitter though.  Turns out, I grabbed the Iridescent Ice embossing powder!  So, I heat set the image and we were good to go.  The good thing about my "mistake" is I do not have to worry about any glitter rubbing off!  I then added some bling to the top layer to finish it off.  My card is made with all plain cardstock.  I picked out a script background stamp and stamped the layers in coordinating ink.

Here is a look at some of the Christmas ornaments available on the Artiste cartridge.

My script stamp is from Universal Backgrounds, my most loved background stamp set.

Freshly Made Sketches #53

We have a super fun sketch this week at Freshly Made Sketches. You must stop by the blog and see all of the variations on the sketch by the design team. We have a great variety of cards this week!

My favorite season is Fall.  I love the changing of the colors.   Our fall season is usually short...but I love the time when the leaves change colors, before the snow starts flying!  The changing of colors was the perfect inspiration for my card.

My falling leaf was colored with the new alcohol markers by Close To My Heart.  I cut out and applied another leaf image on top to give my card more dimension and to insure that the leaf was the focal point of the card.  My decorative mats were cut with the Cricut Artiste cartridge.  The cut that I used is actually one of the mini album pages.  There are a variety of mini album pages included on the Artiste cartridge.  I use the cuts often for making cards.  For this design, I cut my mat and layer....then I threaded my ribbon through the holes to tie my bow.

The inside of my card was finished out with another design from the Artiste cartridge.  After cutting out and applying the Give Thanks sentiment.  I went over the Give with Almond Glitz Glitter Gel.

Here is a look at some of the Thanksgiving images on the Artiste cartridge-
I can't wait to make some of the 3-D pumpkins that are included...watch for them coming soon!

CAS Halloween Card

The start of school has greatly cut into my craft time...which means I have been missing out on some of my favorite challenges.  I decided to combine two that I have missed the last couple of weeks, CAS-ual Fridays and CASE Study! The challenge at CAS-ual Fridays is to create a card with black and white plus one other color.  Seemed perfect for a Halloween theme...so orange was my pick!  The challenge at CASE Study is an Inspiration Card challenge.  Here is the Inspiration Card by Torico-

So, I can see you shaking your head from here...thinking the cards are two worlds apart!  The card was my inspiration in a couple of ways.....I went with the negative die cut theme to frame my spider web.  I layered ribbon on the bottom and added a banner for  my saying.  See....now I am sure you can see the similarities between the two cards!  We could even go a step further....I have a hanging spider, vs. the hanging monkeys!

I finished out the inside as well.  The BOO! is cut with the Cricut Artiste cartridge as well as the decorative cuts and the spider web on the front of the card.  Here is quick view of some of the Halloween themed images available on the Cricut Artiste Cartridge:

I layered orange cardstock behind parts of the Boo saying to give it more pop!  It looked good in all black...but even better with the touch of orange.
