April Stamp of the Month Blog Hop!

Welcome to the April Stamp of the Month Blog Hop!  We will be featuring April's Stamp of the Month, My Sunshine, a set of 8 stamps.  If you have came here from Lori's Blog, you are on the right path.  The blog hop is a great big circle, you can start here and work your way around.  If you get lost along the way, you can find a complete list of participating consultants here.

The April Stamp of the Month coordinates with the Cricut Artiste Collection.  All of my shapes were cut with the Artiste cartridge and stamped with a coordinating image.  I cut all of my images on White Daisy cardstock.  My sun was stamped with Honey ink and then sponged with honey ink to add a two tone look.

I used an extra cloud die cut to use as a stencil to make my cloud background.  For the texture on my balloon baskets...I stamped with the bird feather that is included in the set.  I stamped each basket twice to form the pattern and then sponged on Desert Sand Ink.

The April Stamp of the Month can be yours for only $5 with a qualifying Close To My Heart purchase.  You can see all the details on my Current Specials page!

All of the images with the red outline have a coordinating shape on the Cricut Artiste cartridge.  The summer words image fits perfectly inside the sun shape as well!  Super cute versatile set that is only available in the month of April!

Seize the Birthday #11

While I have yet to decide if I like this card.....I did accomplish a couple of goals in making it.  For starters I inked up the Wild Wild West stamp set that has been sitting on my desk since it was released.  Secondly I managed to get my card entered into the Seize the Birthday Challenge before it closed!  Here is the original sketch-

I was determined to ink up this stamp set.  I pulled out my watercolor pencils and proceeded to color my scene.  I then trimmed it down.  As a tip, one should really measure before they just start cutting their image down to a size!  In the end my image was too small for a standard card!  It might not look like it...but I spent quite a bit of time working on the sky background!  I was determined to make my panel work.  I decided to go with a tall card that will fit into a #10 envelope.  My image was still a tad bit small (really should measure before you cut!).  This is where the rope trim comes into play!  If I were to do it over, I would just redo my image and measure the next time!  I do like the inside of the card!

Freshly Made Sketches #79

Rita has a great sketch for us this week at Freshly Made Sketches!  I just received a new set of hexagon dies and could not wait to try them out!  Feel free to change out the shape in your card design.
I added a little texture to my bee's wings by coating them with Liquid Glass.  I have found that I love stamping with bees...........just don't think that love is going to carry over to summer when they actually join me in the flower beds!

Papercraft Star #138-Easter

We are having an Easter Challenge this week at Papercraft Star.  Starting to see a hint of spring around here......actually spotted a few blades of green grass today!  Who would have ever thought green grass would excite me!  I have included our inspiration photo for the week, use if you choose...just show us some Easter in your projects!
This card was fun to make...love it when all of the details come together easily!  My double bow was tied with help from a Bow-Easy.  I can barely tie my shoelaces....and you would not want those bows on a card.  The Bow-Easy makes it super simple to get a great bow everytime!

My eggs were stamped onto colored cardstock and embossed in white.  After embossing in white, I stamped again over the top of the image and embossed with Iridescent  powder to give them a little sparkle.  The great thing about embossing with glitter...it is heat set, so you do not have to worry about glitter coming off your card!

My card is based on the sketch challenge this week at Stars & Stamps for Operation Write Home.

I added a few layers and a couple of Easter Eggs to the inside to finish off my card.

Merry Monday #55

Up for a game of Tic Tac Toe?  Come play with us at Merry Monday this week.  Create a Christmas card with your choice of elements, just pick three in a row!  I went with the top row, Animal, Designer Paper, and Ribbon.   Don't want my Santa to confuse anyone!

My card is based on the great sketch this week at Deconstructed Sketch.   Love all the layers!  Due to the size of my stamped image, I went with a 6x6 card.

I added a little shimmer to my stamped panel...but it is not showing up well in the photo.  I stamped my main image.  Applied a mask for my moon and then sponged on Outdoor Denim ink.  I then added a little Smooch spray for some shimmer.  My decorative shapes and layers were cut with the Cricut Art Philosophy Collection.

I layered up the inside to coordinate with the front.

Catered Crop Flower Power

I had high hopes of going to the Scrapbook Expo today and had my heart set on coming home with new toys to play with............did not happen!  So, I had to raid my stash for new toys!  Catered Crop is having a Flower Power Recipe Swap, so flowers were a must.  I inked up the upcoming June Stamp of the Month, A Flowering Bunch for my popped up flower.  Consider this a sneak peek.    The set features some really cute flowers and the majority have a coordinating Cricut shape!  No new papers in my stash...so I pulled out some old favorites, Sophia, to create my card.  My card is based on the sketch challenge this week at The Sweet Stop.

I kept the inside clean and simple and inked up some new birthday stamps!

Design Tips: My flower shape was cut with the Cricut Artiste cartridge and then stamped with the coordinating stamp.  My flower stem was hand cut.  My center panel is Hollyhock cardstock, which has been embossed with a Polka Dot folder and then sanded to allow the white core to show through.

Papercraft Star Challenge #137

Spring is in the air, if only for a brief moment before winter sets back in!  We are having a Bird challenge this week at Papercraft Star.  Perfect for your spring cards.  I love the colors in the inspiration photo.  While I was originally thinking pink....my card took a different turn.  Good thing the inspiration photo is use if you choose.

I don't think I have ever seen a green and blue bird in person...other than possibly a parrot.  I did google bird images though and it appears there are green birds out there with a touch of blue.  So, I was able to make a perfectly coordinating flying bird that is not totally a figment of my imagination!  I popped my bird up on a sponged cloud background.  Have you tried making your own cloud backgrounds?  They are super easy to create and I love the soft background.  For mine, I used a scallop border punch and sponged lightly resulting in a cloud background.  I just keep moving the scallop border die down the page to get the size of clouds I am seeking.

My card is based on the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge.  A great sketch that I am sure I will use again in the future.

I added a little detail to the inside of my card as well.  I left the inside blank to use as a notecard in the future.  If you look closely you can see where I stamped the same bird image in a very light tone.  While it does not show up well in the photo, it will provide a great background for a handwritten sentiment.
