Heartfelt Sympathy

Sympathy cards are not my favorite to create.  To make matters worse, I purchased the Love My Dog stamp set some time ago.....to make happy cards!  It was the perfect stamp set for a family member...but sadly the stamp never saw ink until a sympathy card was in order.  My stamping time has been limited lately, but this card was pushed to the front of the to do list.  I recently received the Simon Says Stamp monthly kit and decided to take a quick peak before making my card!  The November kit held some treasures that were perfect for my card, though not in the way one would expect.  I really went out side of the box for this one.  For starters I fell in love with the Metallic Copper envelope in the kit and decided it would be perfect to mail my card off in.  Then there was the Tsukineko Delicata Celestial Copper ink cube, which from first appearance appeared to be the perfect color choice for my Dachshund as well.  My original vision for this card was white on white.  As I inked up the Copper ink, it sadly fell flat on white, but had a lovely shimmer.  I solved my dilemma by inking up the Dachshund with Saddle Ink by Close To My Heart and then stamping again over the top with the Copper ink.  The end result was a Dachshund in the correct color with the perfect amount of shimmer.  Sadly you can not really see the shimmer in the photo, but it reminds me of the dog's shiny coat.  Back to my white on white theory.....it just didn't work for me.  Which bring me to the Copper envelope I had sitting out for  my card.  The color was PERFECT!  I quickly cut up the envelope and added a black card base and was pleased with the result.  If only the kit had included more than one envelope, it would have been perfect!  I do love the copper color though and think I need to add the color to my stash!

Mojo Monday #468

It is contest week at Mojo Monday...we all need more stamps, so head over and join in on the fun!  I am still stamping away with the Monstrous Halloween Bundle and Jeepers Creepers papers.  Love those little monsters and the coordinating dies make adding them to projects easy peasy!  I was obviously in need of some crafting therapy....as this card is all about the details.

I added a stamped sentiment and layers to my metal tag die.  I could not bring myself to cut my ribbon, so I twirled the ribbon and left it as is on the card.  Once again, the googlie eyes make a presence.  Love the movement they add to my card.  A little bit of bling was added by cutting my borders with black glitter paper.  I created "goo" along the bottom edge of my card with the Die-namics Icicle Border die....when cut with black glitter paper.....it easily passes as "goo".  My monster is popped up to jump off the page!

I added more bling to the inside by carrying over the glitter paper to the inside as well.  I am still working on my camera issues, so sadly you can not see all the crisp details.  My card is based on the Mojo Monday #468 sketch.

CAS #192

I created a super clean card for the CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge this week.  I wasn't sure it was going to have enough layers for my liking, but I really like the end result.  I love the card in person, the photo....not so much.  I think I am going to have to find another camera.  Mine appears to be on it's last leg.  I have cleaned it and it seems to have one problem after another.  So sadly, you guys are not able to view the sharp crispness of my card.  In person, the sentiment is crisp....on the photo is appears to fade into the background.  I love making cards....editing the photos, not so much!  The card is super simple to  make and could easily use up many of those paper scraps you have been hoarding.  The stitched dies really add the finishing touch.  Here is the sketch my card is based on-

I added a stitched layer to the inside as well.

MFT Sketch Challenge #300

Sharing a little snow with the rest of the world!  It actually snowed most of the day here, so winter is quickly approaching....   I love the snow.....as long as I am sitting at home watching it out the window, not when I have to drive in it.  I created my card for the MFT Sketch Challenge #300. I added lots of little details to the card, which might not be visible in the photo.  I started out with a rather plain card....and just kept adding to it.  I finally decided I had just the right amount of bling!    The clean card was totally fine, but I love the bling version more.  I sprayed shimmer paint on my white background circle for a fresh snow effect and added bitty sparkles to the snowflakes on my pattern paper. My snowflake is once again layered for added dimension.

A scrap piece of pattern paper finishes out the inside.

MFT Sketch Challenge #299

You might remember my mention of the adorable Monstrous Halloween dies a few weeks back.....well they have made it to my craft table!  I love how they coordinate with the Jeepers Creepers paper packet.  I created my card for the MFT Sketch Challenge #299.  I have always been a fan of MFT dies.  I know I have been hidden under a rock the past couple of years.....not sure when they started having weekly challenges, but considering this one is #299, obviously a while!  My wish list for MFT is crazy long.  I seriously need some of the stitched die sets.  My problem.....I need them ALL.  I have been unable to narrow down the  list, so I have yet to add the stitched dies to my craft room.  I seriously feel like I am missing out!  Considering MFT gives out gift certificates to the winners of their challenges, this could so help out my dilemma!

My card has many layers, and I added a few to the inside as well.  I love the feel of a sturdy card that can stand on it's own! Considering how many layers I put on the front of my cards, adding a few more to the inside balances things out.

Jeepers Creepers Thanks

A totally different take on the Jeepers Creepers paper pack.  While I love the bold bright colors in the paper pack.....this soft gray design was calling my name.  I created this monochrome Thanks card with a touch of bling.  Super simple card....with gasp...no stamping!  Just the fabulous Thanks Thin Cut die and a little added bling!  The die is actually part of a set, you get the Thanks die shown as well as a Hello die, both in the same lovely script.  I love them both and I am sure you will be seeing more of them in the near future!

I cut the Thanks die three times in White Daisy cardstock and layered them together to give my card more definition.  You all know I am all about the layers.  Even with the added layers and little bit of bling, my card is still relatively flat to make for easy mailing.

Happy Fall!

I got out some oldie, but goodie supplies today and made a fall card.  This is  my favorite pumpkin stamp, and it was the first stamp to come to mind for a couple of challenges.  My card is based on the sketch challenge at CAS(E) this Sketch.

And the theme challenge at The Paper Players-

I kept my card clean and simple...but could not resist adding a little texture by adding a twine bow.

I finished out the inside with some fall themed paper scraps.

I don't really know if a supply list is going to help you much.....I think just about every single thing I used to create this card is retired.  The stamps are some of my old favorites and I am working on using my stash of papers.

Freshly Made Sketches #254

Made it back to the craft table this weekend! I created a super clean card for the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge this week.  My card is super clean with a lot of bling!  More bling than the photos can bring you!  I cut my snowflake die three times in Sea Glass cardstock and layered them together to give  more of a chipboard feel. I added a little bling button to the center of my snowflake.  Please note, my button is stitched.  My OCD does not allow for unstitched buttons.  I cringe when I see naked buttons on cards.  I love buttons.....but they so need to be dressed, a little stitching goes a long way!

My sentiments are inked with Sea Glass pigment ink.  I love, love, love the creamy smoothness of the pigment inks.  I know you have heard me rave about the pigment inks by Close To My Heart in the past.  If you have yet to take the plunge, you can buy the Color of the Year, Sea Glass in a mini pigment ink pad.  This is the perfect time to try out the pigment inks without committing to buying a whole set.

Mojo Monday #464

It's contest week over at Mojo Monday, so I had to play along!  I created my card with the super cute Jeepers Creepers paper packet.  I love the bold, bright colors and the fun designs.  There is even an adorable stamp set with Thin Cuts available that matches the paper packet.  While the set has yet to make it to my collection, after playing with the papers, it has moved to the top of my wish list!  To share in the cuteness, here is a pic of the set....

I so wanted this set when I was created my card....but I made do with the papers I had.  I fussy cut one of the cute little monsters out of my patter paper and added a google eye for some character.  This set would be way cute for kid's birthday cards as well as Halloween!  My card is of course based on the sketch this week at Mojo Monday-

I finished off the inside as well with a few more little monsters.

City Sidewalks Christmas

Meet City Sidewalks, one of the new paper collections featured in the Holiday Expressions Catalog by Close to My Heart.  The paper pack comes with 12 sheets of B&T Duos paper, ( 2 each of 6 designs).  One of the designs is filled with images that are perfect for pocket scrapbooking.  Since I am a traditional scrapbooker, the designs equal perfect cards for me!  The front of my card is simply one of those images layered onto a card base.  Super simple card in mere minutes.

Take a look at the other patterns included...

Cricut City Sidewalks has 30 complete images including titles, photo frames, borders, card sentiments, card overlays and other cheery Christmas Designs!  Super cute collection!

I added a coordinating strip of cardstock in the inside of my card as well.  This is a great way to use up any scraps you might have left in the kit and adds so much to your card.
