CAS(E) this Sketch #339

Burlap has a permanent spot on my craft desk...at least for the next few weeks!  I figure snow will be flying after that and I will need to move onto snowflakes!  Then again, I can also see burlap snowflake cards in the future!  I created my card based on the sketch challenge this week at CAS(E) this Sketch-

This card has so many textures, yet really is CAS!  I promise, it is just a few die cuts!  My base is created with the stunning Stitched Woodgrain Backdrop die by Lawn Fawn.  I love it almost as much as burlap...which is saying alot!  My super cute burlap tag was cut with the Cricut Art Philosophy Collection.  Have you heard the news....all of the Close To My Heart Cricut Collections have made a come back!  You can now purchase any of the past favorites you might have missed, through my affiliate link at Cricut!  The cartridges are all digital now, so there is no waiting for them to ship!

I used the Autumn Blessings stamp set for the details on my tag.  Those pumpkins are too cute and I love the font! I inked everything with Espresso Pigment Ink and clear embossed.  I then added color to my pumpkin with Goldrush Reinker and a waterbrush.  Here is a look at the complete set-
Design Tip: I adhered my cardstock to the burlap with Liquid Glass adhesive.  Often tape runners do not give you a lasting bond when it comes to burlap.  I have found that Liquid Glass holds everything together nicely. I applied a tiny bit to my knot of twine on my tag to keep it secure as well.

Freshly Made Sketches #402

Falling leaves and falling temps!  Fall is certainly in the air! I am sneaking in under the wire with a little dose of Fall for the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge.

From the moment I saw the sketch, I knew I wanted to use my new leaf stamps and dies from the Hawthorn Scrapbooking Collection.  Sadly, I was unable to craft this weekend and was quickly running out of time to create my card for the sketch!  Thankfully I had a little time to get inky this morning!  My leaves are inked up in Saffron ink and then rolled in Autumn Terracotta ink.  You can try any ink combinations to see what works for you.  Just remember to ink in your lightest color and then roll in the darker color to keep from contaminating your ink pads! I then die cut the leaves with their coordinating dies.  Being Fall, I had to add in a touch of burlap!  Thin Cut dies cut burlap with ease!  Here is a look at the full set of dies-

My sentiment is from the current Stamp of the Month, Random Act of Cardness.  Each month, Close To My Heart offers an exclusive Stamp of the Month.  The stamp set can be added to your qualifying order for only $5!  The Stamp of the Month set is only available for one month, then the set is retired.  Here is a look at the great sentiments, which are included this month-

Happy Fall!

I am back with Take 2 for the Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge!  The layers were perfect for a CAS Fall card.  I just received the new Autumn Blessings stamp set, and just had to get it inky!  Here is the original sketch design-

I am definitely a more pumpkin spice vs apple cider girl!  I pretty much love all things pumpkin, which is why the new Autumn Blessings stamp set was a must have!  Who can resist cute pumpkins?  I only inked up two of the stamps on my card, so here is a look at the complete set-
You can order just the stamp set or the pumpkins highlighted also have matching Thin Cuts available. My card was quick and simple.  I stamped my images in Espresso Pigment Ink and clear embossed.  To add some color to my pumpkins, I picked up some Goldrush reinker with a waterbrush on my stamp pad lid.  This is a great way to get more mileage out of your ink pads.  You are only using a tiny amount of water to dilute the ink, so watercolor paper is not necessary.

CAS(E) this Sketch #338

Sunflowers just make me happy!  I so love seeing the huge fields of sunflowers.....which just does not happen in Wyoming!  I see more sunflowers in my craft room, than in my surroundings!  I created  my card with the new Sunflower Sympathy stamp set and the current Stamp of the Month, Random Act of Cardness.  My card is based on the sketch challenge at CAS(E) this Sketch-

I had originally planned to go with fall leaves for the sketch...but it seems just about everyone in the gallery has went with a leaf theme!  I had a few leftover sunflowers on my desk and decided to give one of them a home! I will be totally honest...this sunflower is one of those that did not originally make the cut.  I don't know about you, but when I first get a stamp set....I just like to play with it and see what colors I like with it.  This is one of those. It had hit the discard pile, because I was not happy with the center of the flower.  I decided to fix it, vs tossing it.  If you are not familiar with the layers in the stamp set, here is the full set (the images that are highlighted have matching dies available)-

Just in case you would like to replicate the sunflower, here are the colors used:

1.Ink Sunflower image & Leaves in Intense Black Ink.

2.Stamp Inner Sunflower detail image in  Saffron Ink

3.I added in color to the Sunflower with Copic Y15 and Copic Y19 (I don't normally mix dye inks and Copics, but you are really just adding color to the blank part of the Sunflower, so it works!) I colored my leaves with Copic YG95 and YG97.

4.This is where I saved my Sunflower-I inked the center image on a separate piece of Saffron cardstock with Espresso Pigment Ink and clear embossed.  I then cut the image out and layered it onto my sunflower. My original center just lacked pizzazz!  The embossed center makes the Sunflower pop!

5. Ink sentiment with Intense Black Ink

6. Place Sunflower and leaves on cardstock panel.  Place frame die cut on top of panel.  Run the whole stack through your die cut machine.  This really give the sunflower the appearance of just one image, which is also perfect for mailing!

7. Adhere panel to card base and apply random sequins with Liquid Glass.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch #333

I so love the combo of the September Stamp of the Month, Random Act of Cardness and the Every Little Thing Paper pack! I have decided that black really makes the soft colors pop!  I created my card based on the sketch challenge this week at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge-

Honestly, I love all sketches with layers!  I am a huge fan of layers......and I think I might have lost count on the layers on this card!  The cluster element just screamed for the Every Little Thing Papers! There is a gorgeous cluster of flowers stamp in the Every Little Thing Scrapbook stamp set.....sadly it is not currently in my possession. I created my cluster of flowers with die cut stickers that are included in the Paper Pack.  So fun, and so easy!  Here is a close up of the layers-

My sentiment is from the current Stamp of the Month, Random Act of Cardness.  You can add this beauty to your collection for only $5 with a qualifying purchase.  The stamp comes in a slightly different form in the stamp set.  I am all for making my stamps work for me!  A quick little snip of the scissors and this becomes a stacked sentiment vs a long sentiment!  I promise, it is painless!  I also promise, that eventually you will no longer cringe when you make the cut!  Here is a look at the complete stamp set-

I added in some texture with the new Stitched Circles Embossing Folder and a tiny bit of bling with the Julep Loose Sequins.

Fall Thanks...

I love the changing colors of Fall, as well as the falling temps!  I only get a few weeks of Fall in Wyoming, as winter quickly approaches!  Fall also gives me the excuse to add burlap to everything!  :)  I created  my card with the new Hawthorn Scrapbook stamp set.  It was  love at first sight for those leaves!  Here is a look at the complete set-

You can purchase the stamp set alone or with dies.  I knew I would be getting a lot of use out of the leaf dies as well as the titles for scrapbooks, so I went with the complete bundle.  You can even get this set for 50% off with a qualifying party order!  Feel free to contact me with any questions! You can view all of the Hawthorn related items here.

My card is based on the sketch challenge this week at My Favorite Things.  My card has a mix of dies by Close To My Heart and MFT.  Here is a look at the original sketch design-

Design Tip: I inked up my leaf in Saffron ink and rolled the edges in Goldrush ink.  The colors seem to blend together in the photo, but there are subtle differences to the tones in person.  I am sure to be back with more vivid mixes on the leaves!

Freshly Made Sketches Celebration

So excited to be sharing new products with you!  In case you missed it, the NEW Close To My Heart catalogs were released today!  So fun....and there are two catalogs full of awesome products.  There are two huge differences though...one is our annual core catalog and the other is a bi-monthly seasonal product catalog.  While I love the idea of new products every two months...that also means your favorites will be gone before you know it!  If you have to chose between products from the two catalogs, I would get your favorites from the seasonal catalog first!  As soon as I saw the catalogs, I knew that the Sunflower Sympathy set would be my first purchase!  Love the layered sunflowers and one can never have enough sentiment stamps!  This set can be purchased alone or with coordinating Thin Cuts.    While I had to have the Thin Cuts, I ended up fussy cutting the flower on this card.  Here is a look at the complete set-

The possibilites are endless with the layers in this sunflower set.  For this card, I chose to stamp onto the Hawthorn pattern paper.  The paper just seemed perfect for a sunflower!  I inked my sunflower in pigment ink and clear embossed to keep my image sharp on the pattern paper.  Here is a look at the Hawthorn Paper Pack-

While I had originally planned to use the plaid paper for my background, I thought the embossed background was a better fit for keeping it clean for the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge.  Not to mention I was able to use the NEW Stitched Circles Embossing Folder!  Love this folder!  I guarantee this folder will sell out...do not wait to add it your collection!  Here is the original sketch design-

This card was super fun to make.  I have always been a huge fan of burlap and I think sunflowers and burlap just go together.  I could not resist adding in a little burlap twine for added texture.  I have to admit, I have totally jumped onto the fall bandwagon with this stamp set!  More sunflower projects to come!

Inspire. Create. Challenge #050

I had a recent request for a sports themed birthday card....so I dug deep into the stash to come up with sports related items.  The reason I love hand made cards...you can make them to fit your needs! I created my card based on the sketch challenge at Inspire. Create. Stamping Challenges-

I let the pattern papers from the Work Hard, Play Hard series by Carta Bella do most of the work.  I have a long retired All Star stamp set by Close To My Heart that helped finish off the card. I inked up my ball player and stamped him directly onto pattern paper as well.  I stamped my own background on the gray panel.

My sports theme was carried over to the inside of the card as well.  I created this card with bits and pieces from the scrap drawer.  The inside panel is an off white flecked cardstock....no clue where it originated from!  I wanted to stay away from bright white as my card is created with more muted colors.

All supplies by Close To My Heart, except where noted:

D1475 Card Chatter Birthday (inside sentiment)-Retired
