Noble Deer

I pulled out some retired favorites to create a masculine birthday card. My papers are Fresh Air from Close To My Heart.  The patterns are perfect for a masculine card.  How can you go wrong with burlap and wood?  My stamped image is a long retired set from Stampin Up, Noble Deer. I added a touch of color to the detailed image with Prismacolors.  I made up in layers for the lack of my usual bling.

I have entered my card in the following challenges:
2 Crafty Critter Crazies-Anything Goes w/ a critter
613 Avenue Create-Anything Goes w/option of a critter
Cardz 4 Guyz-Wild Animals
Crafty Animals-Anything Goes

Budding Peonies

I am so in love with the Budding Peony Stamp Set! I promise to move onto other stamp sets soon! I created this fun color combo for the Color Challenge at The Paper Players. I admit, I struggled a bit...without green leaves...but think all the shades of gray work well together!  My pop of Raspberry keeps is from becoming dreary!

I arranged all of my elements based on the fun Sketch Challenge at Freshly Made Sketches! You really have to stop by the blog and see all of the Design Team creations.....great interpretations of the sketch!

I used my stitched rectangle frame to ground my peony die cut as part of the sketch design.  I popped up my peony die cut for extra dimension, while gluing the extra leaves direct to the background paper.  My images is colored with Copics.  I could not resist adding in a tiny bit of bling below my sentiment.

Dandelion Wishes...

I am sneaking in under the wire to play along with Freshly Made Sketches this week! Embossing seems to be my thing this weekend.  I have been stamping over twenty years, but still remember the oohs and aahs from watching my first embossing demo. I still love watching the embossing powder melt into a shiny raised image.  If you have yet to try embossing, you are so missing out!  Here is a look at the great sketch this week at Freshly Made Sketches, if you are going to play along, you need to hurry!  Entries close today! My card is heavily influenced by DT member, Linda Callahan.

I kept my card CAS for the color challenge at Less is More. Less is More is celebrating their 8th Birthday this month, so a Birthday card seemed fitting for the color challenge of navy and yellow.

My card is made with the new Dandelion Wishes stamp set from Close To My Heart. I so love the birthday font!  Here is a look at the complete set-

Love Blossoms Thank You

I found a few moments to get my new Love Blossoms stamp set inky this weekend! Love Blossoms is part of an exclusive cardmaking kit that is only available in February and March.  You can also purchase just the stamp set alone.  The stamp set is a double set, with layered images and great sentiments.  Here is a look at the complete set-

For this card, I let my cardstock add all the color.  The images stand on their own with black embossing against the bright background.  I added a tiny bit of bling and a piece of ribbon to add a  little more texture.  The great thing about this card is that it mails easily!  For my embossing, I prefer to emboss with colored pigment ink and emboss in clear embossing powder.

Fusion Card Challenge

I am back for another sketch challenge!  In case you have not noticed, sketch challenges are my favorite blogs!  Having a great sketch, makes your cards come together so easily. Today, I am joining in the Fusion Card Challenge.  With Fusion, you can use the sketch, the photo or both.  I just went with the sketch.  I might feel like a penguin with the negative temps...but am just not in the mood to stamp them!  I went with a clean design with a few added layers.  My card was created with the new Years of Sweetness Stamp Set.  The set has a retro feel and I tried to carry that out with my two tone stamping. Here is a look at the complete set.

The outlined shapes coordinate with the Cricut Artbooking Collection.  I have yet to stamp the cupcake, but I have seen some super cute cards created with it!  Here is a look at the original sketch, which I pretty much completely copied!

I stamped my Happy Birthday image in pigment inks and clear embossed.  The embossing gives the card a little pop in person.  I created my own banners.  I stamped Lagoon cardstock with either Lagoon ink and Sapphire ink. I popped up my birthday sentiment panel and curled the ends of the banners to give them more dimension.

Mojo Monday #508

My kitty is back for a sketch challenge with Mojo Monday! Mojo Monday was always one of my favorite sketch challenge blogs.  The sketches usually have lots of layers, which is exactly my style of cardmaking.  I was so sad when the decision was made to close the blog, but so excited when Julee Tilman decided to bring it back!  Here is a look at the original sketch-

I seriously wanted to put a heart image behind my cat...but sadly no heart dies were to be found!  No way was I going to hand cut one.....so I decided to let my kitty stand alone. He is popped up to add dimension to the card.

My card is actually intended for Valentine's Day, but you have to see the inside to know that.  You could easily use the card front for any occasion.  This card really shows the versatility of Close To My Heart papers.  My pattern paper and the trim on the inside of my card are both from the the Something Fierce line.  Yep, the one with the dinosaurs!

Inspire. Create. Sketch Challenge

I am back with another peony card! I just love these flowers!  I was blessed to actually have had similar ones growing at my house.  I say had, because either it was my lack of a green thumb or the harsh winters...they failed to come back!  I miss their brillant blooms! I am using the round shape of the flower as a stand in for the circle element at the sketch challenge at  Inspire.Create. Challenges.

I added some texture to my card, allowing the flower to remain center stage.  My white panel is dry embossed.  I add a tiny bit of sparkle to my Thank You sentiment. The little bit of burlap was keeping with the sketch while adding more texture.  My peony was colored with Prismacolor pencils and blended with Gamsol.  Lastly I popped up my flower image for more dimension.

Freshly Made Sketches #373

I am a sucker for anything cat related. It must be an age thing....I would have sworn that I was always a dog person.  As I get older though, I have really come to appreciate the self sufficient cat! I am well on my way to crazy cat lady status.  Every time my son wants to adopt another cat, I tell him I really think that would qualify me for crazy cat lady status.  He is always quick to say, no you would have to have "x" number of cats to be considered crazy.  His number varies, he usually picks a number one higher than our current crew plus an adoptee!  We currently have five felines along with numerous other critters. If you haven't already, please spay or neuter your critters!  It is crazy how many animals need homes.  I do transport as time permits for local rescues....it kills me to not be able to give more animals a home.  But, my current crew has said no more, unless we get a bigger house!  Off my soapbox and back to stamping!  Close To My Heart recently released super cute cat and dog stamp sets.  So, If you happen to be a dog person, there is a set for you as well!  I inked up my new stamps for the sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.   Here is a look at the sketch, so that you can join in.

Believe it or not, this card started off as navy and green.  I pulled out the papers and then started coloring my kitty.  One thing lead to another, and we ended up with the pink and grey scheme!  I had yet to clean off my desk from my last card, and decided the pink and grey was a better fit. The cute little bow tie sealed the deal!

My kitty was colored with Prismacolors and blended with Gamsol.  I added paw prints to my pattern paper with coordinating ink.  I also stamped a border of paw prints on the inside of the card and colored the hearts in pink.  This set will be fun to play with and I see a rainbow of cats in my future! (Both stamped and furry companions!)

For the rest of the cat lovers out there, here is a look at the complete set of Purrrrific-

If dogs are more your style, we have you covered there as well with Paw Prints-
