Final Call for Love Blossoms...

Final call for the awesome Love Blossoms stamp set!  The special officially ends on March 31.  I have an open order pending for anyone that missed the boat on ordering!  I only have a few days to get the order submitted.  Feel free to contact me directly to have a set added in for you.  The set features stunning flowers that can be used alone or together and a full set of sentiments.  Here is the full set-

The set comes with watercolor shading stamps, but I have had the coloring bug lately and have colored my image with Copics. You can easily get a variety of looks by using  different coloring mediums. I seriously need to add to my pinks collection, but felt the colors I had worked well with the Ballerina cardstock by Close To My Heart.

My image is inked with black pigment ink and embossed in clear.  My striped pink paper is from the Something Fierce paper line.  The pink stripe coordinates perfectly with the Ballerina Pink cardstock.  I originally joined Close To My Heart (D.O.T.S. at the time) in 1995 due to the matching cardstock, pattern papers and inks.  I was only a scrapbooker at the time, and became a cardmaker after seeing heat embossing for the first time. Twenty plus years later, I am still in love with the coordinating products, with stamps being a close second!  (And yes, I think I was like nine when I started with Close To My Heart, least anyone start doing the math out there!)

I created my card based on the sketch challenge this week at Sketch Saturday.  They have an awesome challenge this week, you can create with any of their past sketches for the challenge.  You should check out their sketch library for your next project.  I went with Sketch #280 for my card.

I also played along with the Tic Tac Toe Challenge at The Paper Players.  I went with pattern paper, sparkle and floral.

Happy 29th Birthday...

I had alot of fun creating this birthday card! It features many layers and bright colors, which are two of my favorite elements. I started  with the number theme for the Number Challenge at Heart 2 Heart Challenges. I knew I wanted to make a "29th" card....just so I could ink my inside sentiment....which we will get to in a moment. I went with the Something Fierce paper line by Close To My Heart, as the bright colors are perfect for a Birthday Card. I die cut my block number dies six times and layered them together for added depth. The banner die, cuts with it's own dimension.  My happy and "th" are from the upcoming April Stamp of the Month, Sweet Love.  The"th" is actually part of the thanks sentiment. I just masked it off, so that only the "th" appeared on my card.

As you might have guessed, the card is not really for a "29" birthday, but you definitely get that when you open to the inside.

I am about as close to 110 pounds as most of my friends are to 29!  I finished off the inside with a coordinating scrap of banner paper.  My card is based on the sketch challenge this week at Sketch Saturday. The challenge this week is to use any sketch from the archives. I went with Sketch #278 and rotated it for my card design.

Pink Dandelion Wishes

I hope everyone is finding some crafting time this weekend!  Winter paid me another visit today, so after many inches of snow...I decided to just stamp home and ink up some stamps!  Dandelion Wishes was one of the first stamp sets that I was drawn to in the Close To My Heart catalog.  I love the super cute font and hope to see more of it in the future.  Here is a look at the complete stamp set-

My card is based on the sketch challenge this week at Freshly Made Sketches. I knew the Dandelion Wishes set would be a perfect match for the sketch.  Here is the original sketch design if you want to play along-

I went with a pink scheme to play along with the Monochromatic Color Challenge at Color My Heart Color Dare. My pink striped paper is actually from the Something Fierce paper line by Close To My Heart.  At first glance, many people think this paper pack is just for the boys.  Not so!  Close To My Heart paper packs are very versatile, just about every set will work for boy or girl projects!  If one paper style does not meet your needs, chances are you just need to flip it over and try the other side!

The Paper Players #434

The pinks still win for my favorite color for the Budding Peony stamps!  I went with a lighter version for the Paper Players Sketch Challenge.  I added in a few extra leaves to ground my flower, though it is hard to see the dimension in the pic.  I really should take the time to get better photography skills, I spend more time editing pics than I do actually creating the card!  OCD gets the best of me...everything matches in person...take the pic, look on the computer...not so much!  If only we could have a camera that saw things in the same dimensions and colors that we do...of course I think this is where the operator error comes into play as well!  Here is a look at the original sketch design-

I once again colored my image with Copics.  My collection is nowhere near complete and I seem to be lacking in the lighter colors.  After coloring my image, I lightly used the Colorless Blender pen to remove some of my pink to add more layers.   Those 00 and 000 colors are on my wish list!

Atlantic Hearts Sketch #309

I am playing along with the sketch challenge this week at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.  My go to stamp set is still the Budding Peony set.  I just love this gorgeous flower, especially in bold colors.  I inked my stamps in Intense Black Exclusive Inks by Close To My Heart and colored my image with Copics.  I adhered the finished image with pop dots to give it more dimension, yet still allow for easy mailing.  Here is a look at the original sketch design-

Have you tried the new Intense Black ink by Close To My Heart? I am in love!  Honestly, when the ink came out....I was like, the last thing I need is another black ink pad.  I finally caved and ordered one to try it out.  This ink has now replaced almost all of my black ink pads! (The only other black I still use is my pigment ink for embossing.)  The ink is waterproof, non-smearing and fast drying.  You can use it with watercolors, pencils and alcohol markers.  I highly recommend adding one to your next order!

So Much Happy...

Happy Monday everyone!  I am so excited....we actually have temps that are above freezing and the thaw has begun!  There is hope for Spring after all!  I was seriously beginning to wonder...though we are still getting snow, at least it is melting and not adding to the tons we already have! To celebrate, I decided to get out some Spring themed papers and play along with the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge!  This sketch challenge ends today, so you need to hurry if you want to join in! Here is a look at the original sketch design-

My card was created with the So Much Happy paper line by Close To My Heart.  The fun, bright colors were perfect for a touch of Spring!  I cut a piece of floral paper into a 3" x 3" square and then cut it into 1" x 1" squares.  I adhered the pieces to a Sapphire piece of cardstock.  I popped up my layer with dimensional tape before adding to my Lemon cardstock.  This card would be perfect for using up those scraps you have been hoarding! Here is a look at the patterns included in the So Much Happy paper packet-

I have adored this stamp by Penny Black for years...which is about how long it took me to finally ink it up and color it! My son is quite the gamer and though his age has surpassed this gamer, I still found it fitting for his birthday card! I colored the image with Prismacolor pencils and shaded with Gamsol. My papers are from the retired Stargazer Collection by Close To My Heart.

Freshly Made Sketches #379

My fluffy cat is back for the sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches! I love cats of all types....but have a fondness for soft, fluffy kitties, with one exception!  My kitties seem to have read the calendar and actually believe the first day of spring is near.  As a result, I have kitties shedding everywhere!  When it comes to shedding time, fluffy kitties are the worst!  I am up to vacuuming a couple of times a day and there is no end in sight for the kitty hair.  I seriously need a Roomba to work full time! Here is a look at the original sketch design-

I kept my card on the clean and simple side.  My camera lighting does not appreciate the different materials on my card, but I can assure you in person, they all match!  Did you know you can color suede with your alcohol based markers? My pink suede bow was not the exact shade that I wanted....Copic marker to the rescue, a few swipes and it matched perfectly...regardless of what the camera says! I have used Copics to color bling, ribbon, brads, embossing etc.  They are truly a versatile product!

Mojo Sketch #511

One of my goals this year, is to mail more cards.  We all love to receive cards in the mail and a handmade card brightens everyone's day.  I know we often think of sending cards for special occasions, but it is the non-conventional ones that are the most surprising.  I honestly do not celebrate St. Patrick's Day...but decided it would be a good day to send a little something in the mail. I created my card based on the sketch challenge at Mojo Monday. I have always been a huge fan of Julee's layered sketches!

My four leaf clover was created with the super cute stitched heart dies by Close To My Heart. I cut a total of eight hearts.  I adhered four hearts directly to my circle shape.  I then scored the remaining four hearts down the middle and only applied adhesive to the center of the hearts.  After adhering to the flat hearts, I raised the sides of the hearts to give the clover a 3-D effect. Since the hearts did not line up perfectly in the center, I colored a gem with a Copic Marker to match my clover and placed in the center. My stem is cute from an oval stitched die. Super cute and super easy to make!

My sentiments is actually from this month's Love Blossoms special. I love the large font and you can create many sentiments out of the words that are included.  I took the liberty of cutting apart one of the sentiments to make a custom saying for my card.  Don't fear cutting your stamps, you can always slide them back together on a clear block.  Cutting sentiments apart gives you more freedom in your placement and more mileage out of the stamp set.  Here is the original stamp set-

You Are So Wonderful

The Paper Players is having a Colors of the Rainbow Challenge this week.  As soon as I saw the challenge released, I knew I had the perfect paper for it! The I Heart Us paper packet has some gorgeous papers with all the colors of the rainbow!  While looking through the papers, I happened across the sheet of various images that are meant to work well for the Picture My Life Albums....the You are so Wonderful to me image was PERFECT for a card!  I really felt the card would be more fitting if it only said You are so Wonderful.....so I got a little creative about covering up part of the sentiment.  I inked up some butterflies from the upcoming April Stamp of the Month and strategically placed them on my card.  To add some interest, I inked up my larger butterfly in Thistle ink first and then rolled the edges into black ink.  I then layered the butterfly to give it movement on the card.  I love the end result and it resulted in a quick and easy colorful card.  This card is sure to brighten someone's day!  Here is a look at the complete paper pack-
