Sunflower Sympathy

My favorite stamp set of the moment is the Sunflower Sympathy set.  I so love the versatility of this set.  You can stamp it in so many ways and so many color combinations.  I wanted to showcase some of the samples created by the Close To My Heart art department.  My favorite is the card featuring the stitched vellum.  Here is a look at the complete set-

The set is available to purchase as a Bundle with Thin Cuts as shown above or you can purchase just the stamp set.  The images are easily fussy cut, so it is totally a personal choice.  You can see the bundle here or just the stamp set, here.  The set is sure to sell out and is only available while supplies last!

Freshly Made Sketches #404

I seem to be seeing plaid pumpkins everywhere and decided to give them a try.  I am in love with the plaid paper from the Mix In Paper Packet, and thought it would be perfect! My card is based on the sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches-

I die cut the center of my plaid paper with a fancy rectangle from the Cricut Art Philosophy Collection.  I then added a slightly smaller die cut in white to mount my pumpkins on.  My pumpkins are from the Autumn Blessings stamp set. The Thin Cuts Bundle is currently sold out, but more are expected in mid-October.  If you love fussy cutting, the stamp set is currently available.  I did a little of both.  I die cut my pumpkins and then added in some paper piecing with the plaid paper.  I mounted the pumpkin strip on 3-D foam tape for added dimension.

My card also follows along with the challenge at The Paper Players.  They are playing Tic-Tac-Toe this week.  I am going with the diagonal-Fall, die-cut and pumpkin.

Every Little Thing Picture My Life Cards

I am a traditional 12 x 12 scrapbooker.  With that said, I am always drawn to the Picture My Life Cards that Close To My Heart releases for the pocket scrapbookers.  They are perfect for making cards and adding to your traditional scrapbook pages as well.  I know in the beginning, I passed them over...because they were simply not my style of scrapbooking.  But, they have so many more uses!  This card was created in mere minutes!  I simply trimmed a Picture My Life card and added in the Thank You sentiment from the September Stamp of the Month. Speaking of, September is quickly coming to a close.  You only have a few more days to add the September Stamp of the Month, Random Act of Cardness to your collection!  Here is the full set in case you have missed it-

The Stamp of the Month can be added to a qualifying order for only $5.00 or you can purchase just the stamp set at the retail price of $18.95.  Have questions?  Feel free to contact me!

A little Country Christmas...

I so love quilting.  I have fond memories of my grandmother's quilts.  I keep thinking at some point, I will pick up the hobby.  I have a few hurdles....one I look at my paper wall and think how much that would cost in fabric!  Two, I am doing good to sew buttons on or a simple stitch on a card...let alone a whole quilt!  So for now, I quilt with my paper!  I created a set of twenty of these cards for a local fundraiser.  By the time, I finished...I was thinking maybe I should have done a quilt!  I am not certain that fabric squares would take much longer than my paper squares!  I finished out the inside as well.

My card was created with mostly retired products.  I so loved the Pear & Partridge Collection by Close To My Heart, that I had saved all my little scraps.  I turned those scraps into these cards! After finishing the quilt blocks, I felt the cards needed a little bit more.  I cut out some snowflakes with the Cricut Artiste Collection and added them to the top of the quilts.  Fingers crossed, that they bring in a nice donation for the family in need.

Mojo Monday #523

I so love the sketches at Mojo Monday.  They are a great starting point for your cards.  I love that Julee gives the measurements for her layers. I decide to create with the Hawthorn Collection.  In the spirit of Fall, I have added in lots of texture!  Here is a look at the original sketch design-

All of the images on my card are from the Hawthorn Scrapbooking Collection.  I do not yet have the Sangria ink pad, so I utilized my closest match, the retired Vineyard Berry.  For my two tone sentiment, I first stamped my sentiment in Vineyard Berry and then faded into Espresso Ink.  My leaf image was first inked in Toffee ink and then rolled into Vineyard Berry.  Here is a look at the complete set-

CAS(E) this Sketch #340

In my burlap obsession, you might recall me saying that I might have to give up on the burlap when the snow flies....not so much!  I finally did it, a BURLAP snowflake!  Definitely gives the card a country Christmas feel. When I decided to make a burlap snowflake, the first thing that came to mind was the Cricut Art Philosophy Collection.  When this cartridge first came out years ago, I made tons of layered snowflake cards...with many still being my favs today. I went with a thicker edged snowflake to make sure my burlap would hold up. My card was created based on the sketch challenge at CAS(E) this Sketch-

I stamped my sentiment in red to give a little Christmas feel.  My sentiment is from the  Say It in Style stamp set. This set features 41 stamps and has just about every sentiment you would ever need!  Here is the complete set-

Freshly Made Sketches #403

I am not sure where September has gone too....but October is just around the corner.  I only send out a handful of Halloween cards...but those will need to be mailed out soon!  I knew when I saw the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, that it would be perfect for a Halloween card.  Here is the original sketch design-

You might recognize my stamp set from years past.  It is the Cats & Bats Scrapbooking Stamp Set.  It is currently available for a limited time on my website. My website has a new section, titled Online Only under the Shop Tab.  The Online Only section features many retired items and specials that have been brought back for a limited time. It is worth checking out, you might find some old or new to you favorites!  Here is the complete Cats & Bats Scrapbooking set, complete with Thin Cuts-

My card is created with a few fun layers, most of which are stamped. I first masked off an area on my card base and stamped the grid background.  I then added a strip of black glitter cardstock for a little bling.  My final layer was my sentiment, mounted on foam tape for more dimension.  My spiderweb and spider are mounted with thin foam dots.  While, my card is very CAS, it has lots of dimension with the multiple layers. I added a tiny bit more bling, by adding some clear shimmer brush to my spider.

Thanks Ever So Much

Sometimes it is the simplest of stamp sets that make the best cards!  The Ever So Much Stamp Set is one of those sets.  At only $7.95, this set of three stamps is a great addition to your stamp collection.  My motto is....one can never have enough Thank You cards!

Sending a Smile...

So in love with the Sunflower Sympathy Stamp Set! Those gorgeous blooms are sure to make you smile.  I soo adored my little burlap tag on my last card, that I decided to supersize it for a sunflower card!  Ahhh, the beauty of a Cricut, you can make your dies any size or shape you want!  My scalloped tag is from the Cricut Art Philosophy Collection by Close To My Heart.  Art Philosophy is the first Cricut Collection that Close To My Heart came out with years ago....still my favorite!  I am so glad it has been brought back in digital form.  If you missed it back in the day of actual cartridges, you are in luck!  All of the Cricut Collections have made a comeback in digital form!  The growing pains of changing technology!  I too have had to finally set by Cricut Expressions aside and move on to the Maker.  So far, I am loving the rotary blade!  It cuts burlap soooo smooth! You can find all of the Cricut Collections through my affiliate link.

My sunflower is yet another sample that I did not think was card worthy!  A few touch-ups and it found it's place.  I just can't bare to throw one away! If you want more details on the sunflower coloring, I have listed the steps here.  My leaves for this one are stamped with Intense Black Ink onto New England Ivy Cardstock, with a few highlights added with Copic YG95.  Just in case you have yet to see the set, here is a pic of the complete set-

My sentiment is from the September Stamp of the Month, Random Act of Cardness.  I love the great mix of fonts and sentiments in this set!  The set is only available in the month of September and can be added to a qualifying order for only $5!  Here is look at the full set-

Design Tip: Adhesive is key when working with heavier materials such as burlap.  A tap runner is just not going to hold long term.  Will it hold for the immediate use, yes...but not much longer.  I adhere my burlap and items to my burlap with Liquid Glass adhesive.  Obviously a liquid, which helps get into the seams of the burlap and form a strong bond.  It dries clear and super strong.

CAS(E) this Sketch #339

Burlap has a permanent spot on my craft desk...at least for the next few weeks!  I figure snow will be flying after that and I will need to move onto snowflakes!  Then again, I can also see burlap snowflake cards in the future!  I created my card based on the sketch challenge this week at CAS(E) this Sketch-

This card has so many textures, yet really is CAS!  I promise, it is just a few die cuts!  My base is created with the stunning Stitched Woodgrain Backdrop die by Lawn Fawn.  I love it almost as much as burlap...which is saying alot!  My super cute burlap tag was cut with the Cricut Art Philosophy Collection.  Have you heard the news....all of the Close To My Heart Cricut Collections have made a come back!  You can now purchase any of the past favorites you might have missed, through my affiliate link at Cricut!  The cartridges are all digital now, so there is no waiting for them to ship!

I used the Autumn Blessings stamp set for the details on my tag.  Those pumpkins are too cute and I love the font! I inked everything with Espresso Pigment Ink and clear embossed.  I then added color to my pumpkin with Goldrush Reinker and a waterbrush.  Here is a look at the complete set-
Design Tip: I adhered my cardstock to the burlap with Liquid Glass adhesive.  Often tape runners do not give you a lasting bond when it comes to burlap.  I have found that Liquid Glass holds everything together nicely. I applied a tiny bit to my knot of twine on my tag to keep it secure as well.

Freshly Made Sketches #402

Falling leaves and falling temps!  Fall is certainly in the air! I am sneaking in under the wire with a little dose of Fall for the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge.

From the moment I saw the sketch, I knew I wanted to use my new leaf stamps and dies from the Hawthorn Scrapbooking Collection.  Sadly, I was unable to craft this weekend and was quickly running out of time to create my card for the sketch!  Thankfully I had a little time to get inky this morning!  My leaves are inked up in Saffron ink and then rolled in Autumn Terracotta ink.  You can try any ink combinations to see what works for you.  Just remember to ink in your lightest color and then roll in the darker color to keep from contaminating your ink pads! I then die cut the leaves with their coordinating dies.  Being Fall, I had to add in a touch of burlap!  Thin Cut dies cut burlap with ease!  Here is a look at the full set of dies-

My sentiment is from the current Stamp of the Month, Random Act of Cardness.  Each month, Close To My Heart offers an exclusive Stamp of the Month.  The stamp set can be added to your qualifying order for only $5!  The Stamp of the Month set is only available for one month, then the set is retired.  Here is a look at the great sentiments, which are included this month-

Happy Fall!

I am back with Take 2 for the Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge!  The layers were perfect for a CAS Fall card.  I just received the new Autumn Blessings stamp set, and just had to get it inky!  Here is the original sketch design-

I am definitely a more pumpkin spice vs apple cider girl!  I pretty much love all things pumpkin, which is why the new Autumn Blessings stamp set was a must have!  Who can resist cute pumpkins?  I only inked up two of the stamps on my card, so here is a look at the complete set-
You can order just the stamp set or the pumpkins highlighted also have matching Thin Cuts available. My card was quick and simple.  I stamped my images in Espresso Pigment Ink and clear embossed.  To add some color to my pumpkins, I picked up some Goldrush reinker with a waterbrush on my stamp pad lid.  This is a great way to get more mileage out of your ink pads.  You are only using a tiny amount of water to dilute the ink, so watercolor paper is not necessary.

CAS(E) this Sketch #338

Sunflowers just make me happy!  I so love seeing the huge fields of sunflowers.....which just does not happen in Wyoming!  I see more sunflowers in my craft room, than in my surroundings!  I created  my card with the new Sunflower Sympathy stamp set and the current Stamp of the Month, Random Act of Cardness.  My card is based on the sketch challenge at CAS(E) this Sketch-

I had originally planned to go with fall leaves for the sketch...but it seems just about everyone in the gallery has went with a leaf theme!  I had a few leftover sunflowers on my desk and decided to give one of them a home! I will be totally honest...this sunflower is one of those that did not originally make the cut.  I don't know about you, but when I first get a stamp set....I just like to play with it and see what colors I like with it.  This is one of those. It had hit the discard pile, because I was not happy with the center of the flower.  I decided to fix it, vs tossing it.  If you are not familiar with the layers in the stamp set, here is the full set (the images that are highlighted have matching dies available)-

Just in case you would like to replicate the sunflower, here are the colors used:

1.Ink Sunflower image & Leaves in Intense Black Ink.

2.Stamp Inner Sunflower detail image in  Saffron Ink

3.I added in color to the Sunflower with Copic Y15 and Copic Y19 (I don't normally mix dye inks and Copics, but you are really just adding color to the blank part of the Sunflower, so it works!) I colored my leaves with Copic YG95 and YG97.

4.This is where I saved my Sunflower-I inked the center image on a separate piece of Saffron cardstock with Espresso Pigment Ink and clear embossed.  I then cut the image out and layered it onto my sunflower. My original center just lacked pizzazz!  The embossed center makes the Sunflower pop!

5. Ink sentiment with Intense Black Ink

6. Place Sunflower and leaves on cardstock panel.  Place frame die cut on top of panel.  Run the whole stack through your die cut machine.  This really give the sunflower the appearance of just one image, which is also perfect for mailing!

7. Adhere panel to card base and apply random sequins with Liquid Glass.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch #333

I so love the combo of the September Stamp of the Month, Random Act of Cardness and the Every Little Thing Paper pack! I have decided that black really makes the soft colors pop!  I created my card based on the sketch challenge this week at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge-

Honestly, I love all sketches with layers!  I am a huge fan of layers......and I think I might have lost count on the layers on this card!  The cluster element just screamed for the Every Little Thing Papers! There is a gorgeous cluster of flowers stamp in the Every Little Thing Scrapbook stamp set.....sadly it is not currently in my possession. I created my cluster of flowers with die cut stickers that are included in the Paper Pack.  So fun, and so easy!  Here is a close up of the layers-

My sentiment is from the current Stamp of the Month, Random Act of Cardness.  You can add this beauty to your collection for only $5 with a qualifying purchase.  The stamp comes in a slightly different form in the stamp set.  I am all for making my stamps work for me!  A quick little snip of the scissors and this becomes a stacked sentiment vs a long sentiment!  I promise, it is painless!  I also promise, that eventually you will no longer cringe when you make the cut!  Here is a look at the complete stamp set-

I added in some texture with the new Stitched Circles Embossing Folder and a tiny bit of bling with the Julep Loose Sequins.
