CAS(E) this Sketch #338

Sunflowers just make me happy!  I so love seeing the huge fields of sunflowers.....which just does not happen in Wyoming!  I see more sunflowers in my craft room, than in my surroundings!  I created  my card with the new Sunflower Sympathy stamp set and the current Stamp of the Month, Random Act of Cardness.  My card is based on the sketch challenge at CAS(E) this Sketch-

I had originally planned to go with fall leaves for the sketch...but it seems just about everyone in the gallery has went with a leaf theme!  I had a few leftover sunflowers on my desk and decided to give one of them a home! I will be totally honest...this sunflower is one of those that did not originally make the cut.  I don't know about you, but when I first get a stamp set....I just like to play with it and see what colors I like with it.  This is one of those. It had hit the discard pile, because I was not happy with the center of the flower.  I decided to fix it, vs tossing it.  If you are not familiar with the layers in the stamp set, here is the full set (the images that are highlighted have matching dies available)-

Just in case you would like to replicate the sunflower, here are the colors used:

1.Ink Sunflower image & Leaves in Intense Black Ink.

2.Stamp Inner Sunflower detail image in  Saffron Ink

3.I added in color to the Sunflower with Copic Y15 and Copic Y19 (I don't normally mix dye inks and Copics, but you are really just adding color to the blank part of the Sunflower, so it works!) I colored my leaves with Copic YG95 and YG97.

4.This is where I saved my Sunflower-I inked the center image on a separate piece of Saffron cardstock with Espresso Pigment Ink and clear embossed.  I then cut the image out and layered it onto my sunflower. My original center just lacked pizzazz!  The embossed center makes the Sunflower pop!

5. Ink sentiment with Intense Black Ink

6. Place Sunflower and leaves on cardstock panel.  Place frame die cut on top of panel.  Run the whole stack through your die cut machine.  This really give the sunflower the appearance of just one image, which is also perfect for mailing!

7. Adhere panel to card base and apply random sequins with Liquid Glass.

Wonderful card, Alissa! Your sunflower is beautifully colored. I also love seeing rows upon rows of sunflowers but we left Kansas and moved to Arizona so now it's all about cacti. Thank you for sharing at Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge #359!
