Sketch Saturday #592

I finally made it back to the craft room, just in time to enter the Sketch Challenge at Sketch Saturday!  They have a super easy challenge this week, you get to pick any previous sketch!  I went with Sketch #326-

The sketch was a perfect fit for my Custom Ornament Thin Cuts!  I decided to mix things up and go with a fun shaker card!  Shaker cards are soo unexpected and really come together quickly! I might have slightly overfilled this one, but it has plenty of bling for the holidays! To create my card, I first die cut the stitched panel and then die cut the ornament shape out of the same panel.  I cut the ornament topper out of Evergreen cardstock, and "hung" the ornament with Silver Embellishing Thread. I then inked up my sentiment from the Stamp of the Month-Reindeer Crossing-

After my top panel was complete, I flipped it over and applied acetate to cover the window.  A quick tip-you can really use just about anything clear for your windows.  You know those clamshell cases that you purchase products in that everyone hates?  Those can easily have a second life in your craft room!  I keep a small stash of empty cases and just cut the acetate to fit.  I would much rather spend my money on stamps and dies, vs buying pristine acetate sheets. After applying the acetate, I adhere 3-D foam around the shape.  Then you can add a little or a lot of sequins and then adhere your bottom layer. Honestly, it took me way  longer to type this than it did to complete the card!

Freshly Made Sketches #413

I couldn't wait to ink up the December, Stamp of the Month, Reindeer Crossing.  I just love the images and sentiments in this set! I decided my Caribou would be the perfect stand in for the big squiggly design in this week's Freshly Made Sketches Challenge-

I dry embossed my background panel and added in a few sequins for more snowflakes.  I colored my Caribou with Copics.  I don't have Caribou in my area, so had to research their shading.  It was only after I colored my image that I saw that they actually change colors! Even their eyes change colors! So I might have ended up with a summer Caribou in my winter scene. Let's just say it is the first snowfall of the season and this guy has not changed colors yet!

I added in a pair of reindeer to the inside of my card as well.  I love how the texture of this stamp make them appear as if they were sketched in. If you have yet to see the full stamp set, here it is-

The Stamp of the Month can be added to a qualifying order for only $5.  You can check out all the details here.  The set is only available until December 31, 2019.
