Spruced Up Thank You

Winter was quick to remind us this morning, that she is still here!  I do love snow....as long as I do not have to go anywhere....which was not the case this morning!  Thankfully the storm was brief.  I am back in the craft room this afternoon with a quick Thank You card for the MFT Sketch Challenge-

I thought the sketch was a perfect time to use the Spruced Up Cardmaking Stamp Set. This card was super easy for me to put together...in part because I had pre-stamped my images.  When I have a stamp set with coordinating Thin Cuts, I will often stamp and cut numerous images at once.  I then place the duplicate images in the storage envelope with my stamps and dies.  This makes it super simple to create a new project, without having to reink and stamp the images again.

I layered my foliage and bird for added dimension.  The overall card is still pretty flat to allow for easy mailing.  Too many embellishments, will have you paying the package rate to mail your cards! I trimmed some of the images to fit the circle dies and allowed some to hang over the edge.  I added a bit of silver embellishing thread across the top for a tiny bit of bling. Here is a look at the complete stamp set, which is available with or without the Thin Cut dies.

Freshly Made Sketches #419

Freshly Made Sketches has a fun sketch this week. I have seriously thought about this card all week, but  have not had time to put it together.  And, it is certainly one of those cards that did not go as planned! I did manage to use up some more of my scraps though!  Which is a huge plus.  My vision for this card was using some large flowers that I had previously hand cut, the vision was great.....the putting to paper, not so much! I could not make it work to my liking, but in the end, I decided less was more!  I was perfectly fine with having white space!  The end result is a CAS thank you card with a pop of color!  Here is the original sketch design-

I created my card with a floral print from the Craft On paper series. My white scallop shape was cut with the Cricut Artbooking Collection.  My flowers were cut from the same Craft On paper.  My sentiment is stamped onto layered fishtail dies from My Favorite Things.

The Paper Players #475

We have a new sketch challenge this week at The Paper Players!  While the sketch features circles, you are welcome to sub in any shape!  Since Valentine's Day is on the horizon, I went with a heart theme. Here is the original sketch design-

I created my heart panel in Cricut Design Space.  I sized a rectangle and then placed six heart shapes inside the rectangle.  I did not even use any Cricut cartridges, just the basic shapes found in Design Space. I am currently on a mission to actually use up my papers vs filing them away (AKA hoarding).  My background paper is from the somewhat Christmas themed Cedar & Pine papers!  I thought the Peach striped background would be perfect for my shaker card.  Close To My Heart calls it Peach, I seriously feel it leans more to the pink side! I created a custom mix of shaker elements to keep with the white/peach  pink theme! The sequins blend way better in person than my photo taking skills! Those holographic sequins catch all kinds of crazy light, they have a pink sheen in person!

Mojo Monday #529

I was so happy to see Julee back with another sketch this week at Mojo Monday! I so love adding layers to my cards and Julee never disappoints in the layers on her sketches! I changed up her dimensions just a tad to create my standard A2 sized card.  Here is the original sketch design-

I changed the 2" x 4.5" to 3" x 4.5", the 1.75" x 3.5" to 2.75" x 3.5" and the 2" x 2" to 2.5" x 2.5".  My overall card size is 4.25" x 5.5".  I created my card with the fun papers in the Urban Collection.  There is a Workshop Kit available, which includes tons of goodies at a 20% discount.  Here is a look at the complete collection-

I added in some burlap ribbon and a wooden arrow for some dimension.  My stamped skyline panel is popped up with 3-D foam.  Here is a look at the layers-

The Paper Players #474

We are having a Clean and Simple Challenge over at The Paper Players with a Fashion Fun theme!  I will admit, fashion is pretty far down my list of must haves! I tend to dress way more for comfort than anything!  Hence, I also have very few stamps that I would consider fashion related!  I do have an old favorite stamp set though, that actually had the dress form and shoes!  I chose to feature the dress form.  I thought it was a perfect for my sentiment.

I created my card based on the sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches, keeping it Clean and Simple-

My sentiment stamp is from the retired Happiness Blooms stamp set.  This super fun set is still available in the Online Only Section of my website.  The Online Only Section is a great resource for fun Close To My Heart products that you might have missed out on!  Here is a look at the complete Happiness Blooms stamp set, with coordinating Thin Cuts dies-
To create my card, I stamped my images in Intense Black ink.  I then added color to my dress form with a Prismacolor pencil, blended out with Gamsol.  I die cut my panel with a MFT die to coordinate with the sketch.  A few sequins finish it off.  I popped up my top panel with 3-D foam to give the card more dimension.

I so love the ink splatters and texture in the Urban Collection. The papers are perfect for your masculine cards.  I created this card based on the sketch challenge at Try Stampin On Tuesday with the optional theme of Thank You.

The Urban papers did all the work on this card.  I stamped a fun script sentiment, added a few star stickers and called it done.  Urban is part of the Bring Back My Pack promotion and is only available until January 31.  Here is a look at the full collection-

CAS(E) this Sketch #355

Hello everyone!  Excited to announce that I am a Guest Designer over at CAS(E) this Sketch this week! I have always been a huge fan, so was super excited to be asked to play along.  My card is slightly out of my element!  My normal style is clean with lots of layers.  I managed to keep the layers, but the splatters almost got the best of me! I have the same struggles with watercolors.  I so love the look, but the "must have it perfect" syndrome about does me in. Obviously there is no such thing as perfect splatters...but I still need them in just the right spot AND just the right color!  Even when I thought I had the color just right....by the time I got to the photograph, they had changed ever so slightly!  Here is a look at the sketch, so you can come play along-

My floral image and banner were stamped in Intense Black ink and then colored with Copics. I popped them up on a stitched die cut panel.  My splatter was created with Thistle reinker, lightly sprayed with water.  A few bitty sparkles finish it off.

Urban Birthday Card

I needed a quick masculine birthday card and Urban fit the bill! I seriously need to come up with a stash of masculine birthday cards, floral birthday cards just do not work for the guys!  I created this card with the help of the sketch challenge at CAS(E) this Sketch and the color challenge at Color Throwdown-

It might not look it, but my card really is pretty clean and simple! All of the grunge is thanks to the great papers that are included in the Urban Paper Pack. The colors were perfect for the color challenge! Urban is part of the Bring Back My Pack promotion.  The collection is available to purchase until January 31, 2020. Here is a look at the complete collection-

You can purchase the whole collection at a 20% savings or just purchase the parts you would like.  My card utilizes the paper pack and the stamp set.  All of the grunge on my card is from the papers.  The skyline and birthday sentiment are stamped in Sapphire Ink directly onto the pattern papers as well.

The Paper Players #473

We have a new challenge today at The Paper Players!  Anne Marie has chosen some great colors for a color challenge this week! The colors are Poppy Parade, Old Olive, Rich Razzleberry and a neutral of your choice.  You do not have to use Stampin Up colors, just some variation of.  I converted the Stampin Up colors to Close To My Heart Candy Apple, Fern, Eggplant and Mink.

I inked up the stamp set from the Spruced Up Cardmaking Kit in Intense Black Ink.  Intense Black is my go to ink!  It works great for coloring with Copics and with using Gamsol on colored pencils.  I then colored my image with Copics. My bouquet of flowers is popped up with 3-D foam tape, as well as my sentiment banner. I first stamped my sentiment banner on white with Intense Black.  I decided I wanted it to "pop" more, so I colored in the banner with Copics as well. My card is based on the sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches-

You are Amazing!

The bold sentiments in the January Stamp of the Month, Everyday Magic, can totally stand alone!  I just love the script font.  I kept this card super simple and let the sentiment stand out! I embossed my Sangria panel with the Stitched Circles Embossing Folder.  After embossing, I rubbed some super fine sand paper over the top to allow the white core to show through.  If you have yet to try Close To My Heart cardstock, it is two toned and has a white core.  The cardstock features one shade on the front and a lighter shade on the back.  The core is white to allow you to create special effects. The two tones are great for finding just the right color for your project. Here is a sampling of the colors available-

You can purchase the cardstock in a variety of ways: single bulk packs, coordinating packs and custom packs of 12 to 24 sheets. You can view all of the cardstock options here.  Don't forget,  you can add the January Stamp of the Month to a qualifying order for only $5!  This set is perfect for sending out positive vibes in the New Year-

Southern Girls Anything Goes Challenge

So excited to announce that I am on the Design Team over at the Southern Girls Challenge in 2020! I have been playing along with their challenges since 2012 and am excited to join the team!  In 2020, Southern Girls is changing to an Anything Goes Challenge, so all of your projects are welcome! I created my card with stamps from Newton's Nook, which is one of our challenge sponsors this month. My papers are from the Every Little Thing line by Close To My Heart, which is still available in the Online Only section of my store.

I created my card with the mint watercolor paper from the packet.  I applied texture paste with the Confetti Stencil and then poured loose glitter over the top, while the paste was still wet. For my balloon, I stamped my sentiment with Stazon ink on top of acetate. My shaker contents are a mix of sequins and cutouts from the balloon dies. Such a fun and festive card!
