Freshly Made Sketches #428

Snail mail hugs it is!  It is the perfect time to send out some doses of cheer!  Sunflowers are the perfect fit.  They are so bright and cheery!  My card is based on the sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches-

My lattice panel was cut with the Cricut Artbooking Collection.  Did you know that ALL of the Close To My Heart Cricut Collections are now available in digital form?  You can purchase them through my Cricut affiliate link and get instant access!  Best of all, there are no shipping charges! My stamps are from the Sunflower Sympathy Stamp Set.  While this set does contain sympathy sets, it can also be a dose of cheer as well! My sunflower was stamped with Espresso Pigment Ink onto Honey cardstock and clear embossed.  I used the same ink on New England Ivy for the leaves. My sentiment was stamped with Versamark ink and heat embossed in white. The sunflower was applied with 3-D foam tape for added dimension.

Sketch Saturday #602

Being an avid horse fan, unicorns are a close second!  I created a quick and simple card for a couple of challenges.  My card is based on the sketch challenge at Sketch Saturday-

I flipped the sketch on it's side and used the colors from the Color Throwdown Challenge-

The colors just made me instantly think of unicorns! I went with Pixie, Thistle and White for my color scheme.  My images are stamped in Intense Black ink and then a touch of color applied with Copic markers.  I went over the color in my images with a shimmer brush to add a touch of sparkle. My unicorn was die cut and applied with 3-D foam tape for added dimension.

CAS(E) this Sketch #364

Now, is the perfect time to get started on those Holiday cards!  I have grown to love white on white Christmas cards.  We had a few snow flurries today and we certainly need Peace on Earth at the moment!  My card was created for the CAS(E) this Sketch challenge-

My card was super simple to create.  I first stamped my sentiment on a white panel in Sapphire ink. (Least I end up making a smudge on a finished panel!)  I then lined up five die cut snowflakes, using a straight edge along the bottom.  In keeping with the sketch, I added a little bling to one of my snowflakes.  The  finished panel was then cut out with a stitched panel die. My sentiment is from the super versatile Say It with Style stamp set.  This set features 41 stamps and is perfect for all occasions.  Here is the complete set-

12x12 Paper Storage

This is my long overdue project!  It totally makes me happy!  Crafting is a great stress reliever for me, but at times the chaos causes it's own stress! I finally took the time to get control over my 12x12 paper.  My paper was previously stored in a variety of ziploc bags, which were slightly in order.  I replaced all the ziploc bags with clear record sleeves.  I love the sleek look.  I added labels to each sleeve for the color name. The sleeves are stored in Cropper Hopper cases that are turned on their side.  This keeps the papers upright without getting bent and allows easy access to the sleeves.

I am still working on the neutrals and my pattern papers are next.  There are a variety of record sleeves out there.  I went with a thicker sleeve, which will stand up to the constant use.  You can find the sleeves I used here.  Each sleeve easily holds 25 sheets of cardstock.  Truth be told, I have 50 sheets in some of the sleeves, but it is a tight fit.

This is fairly close to a before pic!  This is actually my 12x12 pattern paper, which will be next on the list to organize.  While the ziploc bags are functional, they are so not pretty to look at!  Now, if only I can keep the papers organized!

The Paper Players #483

Claire has created a super fun sketch for the challenge at The Paper Players this week! My card was created based on a 8.5 x 11 scrapbook page from the Close To My Heart Cricut Complete Creativity Collection. I loved the elements on the page and downsized it to card size. Here is the original scrapbook layout-

In keeping with the sketch, I simply deleted the elements that I did not plan on using.  The beauty of the Cricut Collection, is you can cut them to just about any size.  I took the 8.5 x 11 layout and downsized it to 4.25 x 5.50.  I added in a scalloped oval die for my sentiment. My sparkly strips are white shimmer trim that I colored with a Copic marker.  I added some sparkle to my flower as well, but it is hard to tell in the photos.

Here is the original sketch design, hope to see you in the gallery this week!

Freshly Made Sketches #427

I have been on a mission to mail more cards this year....excited to announce that I am doing great at actually mailing them!  Which also means, my supply is getting depleted!  I created this card based on the sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches-

I love fun, bright colors.  My card started with a 6x6 paper pad from Doodlebug Design Inc., called Hello.  Many of the prints have a touch of gold in them. I chose some bright prints for my candles and die cut them with dies from MFT.  In keeping with the sketch, I needed a bold sentiment that would stand out over the top of them.  I cut the word celebrate, from the Cricut Artbooking Collection, out three times and adhered them together for more dimension. I matted everything in gold foil and added in a few gold sequins to complete the card.  Super simple and the card certainly "pops".

Epic Birthday

My boys are all avid gamers.  The Boy Oh Boy papers by Carta Bella are perfect for creating gamer themed cards.  I have about used up my stash...so if you know of any new gamer themed papers out there, be sure and comment with the details!  My card is based on the sketch challenge at Mojo Monday, Julee has three sketches up this week.  This is my take one-

I followed the sketch pretty exact, with the exception of matting my layers.  Gotta have a few layers!  After fussy cutting my game controller, I popped it up with 3-D foam for added dimension.  My Epic Birthday sentiment is stamped in Pewter Gray ink.  I stamped the Level Up sentiment in Crystal Blue ink and then lightly added Pewter ink to the bottom half for a two toned sentiment.

Seas the Day

I so hope that you are able to get a few extra hours of craft time during the current state of affairs.  For me, it totally keeps me sane.  I seriously need a lot of crafting, just the thought of having to venture to the store is giving me an anxiety attack!  My card is based on the sketch challenge at Sketch Saturday-

This card is all about paper!  No stamping involved.  I chose a fun mix of papers from the new Seas the Day collection to create a fun beach themed card.  I hand tore the pattern paper to match the sketch design. My Seas the Day quote is cut from the Close To My Heart You are Here Cricut Collection. The quote is two layers and I cut it at 3 1/4". The crab and small fish were fussy cut from the same pattern paper and popped them up with 3-D foam tape.  Here is a look at the complete Seas the Day Paper Packet-

The papers are perfect for your beach themed projects and scrapbook pages.  You can view the full Seas the Day lineup of products here.

Rainbow Bridge

So many of my friends have recently lost fur babies. Having lost many fur babies over the years, I know that pet sympathy cards are truly appreciated.  When I saw the sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch, it was a pet sympathy card in the making.  I pretty much followed the sketch exactly-

I created a rainbow panel with a trio of  Distress Oxide inks. (Candied Apple, Fossilized Amber and Faded Jeans) After my panel was complete, I  lightly spritzed with water.  I adhered my rainbow panel and a thin strip of black to White Daisy cardstock and then die cut with a stitched frame die.  I prefer to adhere all my layers together and then die cut for a seamless look.  The paw prints were die cut with textured back cardstock.  My sentiment is from the Rainbow Bridge stamp set, which has made a comeback in the Online Only section of my website.

I created my rainbow panel slightly larger than needed, to insure that I had a smooth finish on the edges.  I took part of the left over strip and added it to the inside of my card.

Freshly Made Sketches #426

Sympathy cards are never easy to make...but the Sunflower Sympathy stamp set is gorgeous and can be used for many other occasions as well!  Back by popular demand, this set has been added to the Online Only section of my website.  In case you missed it when it first came out, here is the complete set-

The sunflower comes with three layers, I only used two of the layers in  my card today.  I stamped the outer and inner layers with Espresso Pigment ink onto Saffron cardstock and heat embossed in clear.  I stamped my leaves the same onto New England Ivy cardstock.  I then fussy cut the images out.  I layered my sentiment strip onto a white panel and then die cut the stitched frame. My sunflower was applied with 3-D foam tape for added dimension.  I cut the outer edge flush with my panel after applying.

While I do not enjoy making sympathy cards, I do like to have them on hand to send out.  Having a variety of sympathy stamps makes creating the cards so much easier.  If you have not seen the new Close To My Heart releases, we have a new Heartfelt Sympathy sentiment set.  This set includes numerous sentiments for the inside of your cards.  I kept the inside of my card simple, with a stamped sentiment and stitched frame.

Here is a look at the complete set of With Heartfelt Sympathy-

My card was created based on the sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  The challenge ends today, so you need to hurry if you plan on entering the challenge!

The Paper Players #482

Tulips so give me the vision of Spring.  The only problem is, you will not find any growing naturally in Wyoming at the moment, as the snow is still flying!  Spring has sprung in other parts of the world though!  In celebration, Joanne is having a Spring Flowers theme challenge at The Paper Players this week!

I love the watering can full of tulips featured in the Where Happiness Blooms stamp set.  This stamp set features three layers, allowing you to easily create colorful blooms.  I often stamp my images in the three layers and then go back and add details with Prismacolor pencils. The pencils allow you to add more depth to the image.  Here is a look at the complete stamp set, with coordinating Thin Cut dies-

After stamping and coloring my image.  I added in a few details.  I stamped the small heart in the set in Pixie ink and fussy cut to adhere to my watering can.  A small piece of Mink twine was adhered to the can with Liquid Glass adhesive.

My card was created based on the sketch challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches.  I placed my watering can against a vellum circle die and add in a few banners along the bottom.  The heart printed paper is from the Craft On Paper Collection, which is still available in the Online Only Section.  If you have not checked out the Online Only section lately, Close To My Heart has added in tons of new stamps! You can check out all of the products here.

I also took inspiration from the Photo Inspiration Challenge at Addicted to Stamps and More-

My colors are from the Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge, Mink Grey with Sweet Leaf and Pixie-
