CAS(E) this Sketch #378

Sending a little Joy with Blue Skies!  I created a clean and simple card for the CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge.  A few layers with a pop of color.  In the current times, I am mailing way more cards and  staying home as much as possible.  It is definitely too peoplely in places and we are just now experiencing the spread of COVID-19 in the west.  Here is the original sketch design-

My card was created with the National Scrapbooking Day Bundle, that was released back in May.  If you missed out, there are a few sets in the Online Only Section that are up for grabs.  The Bundle features the exclusive stamp set and  the super fun embossed cardstock from the Blue Skies collection. The bundle comes with supplies to create 20 cards.  Here is the complete bundle-

Last Call for Garden Tags!

Only one more day to add the June Stamp of the Month, Garden Tags, to your collection! This super fun set is only available to purchase during the month of June.  Just in case you missed it previously, here is a look at the complete set-

You can add this set to your collection for only $5 with a qualifying purchase.  There are also coordinating Thin Cut dies available to cut your tags.  The dies are currently on backorder, but will be restocked in July.

To create my card, I stamped my images in Intense Black ink and then added color with Copics.  It is hard to tell from the photo, but I added a little shimmer to the dragonfly wings with a clear shimmer brush.  My embossed papers are from the Blue Skies Collection.  I popped up my sentiment with 3-D foam tape for added dimension.  My card is based on the sketch challenge at Fusion, I rotated the sketch and added my tag on top.

Freshly Made Sketches #441

Ice Cream anyone? I live in a really small town.....famous for it's ice cream.  We might only have a population of 300 or so....but we are known as the Home of the Big Cone.  Seriously, they are huge!  People have no idea what they are getting into when they go in an order a cone. I would guess a double scoop probably has a quart of ice cream!  The secret is to order a Baby Scoop....the only manageable amount of ice cream a normal person could eat in one sitting!  For example.....

How can anyone eat that much ice cream at once?  If you ever happen to be in Farson, WY...get the baby scoop....unless you have a serious appetite for ice cream! A little ice cream, certainly makes Life Sweet!  I created my card based on the sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches-

While you will never catch me wearing pink and red together in clothes...anything seems to go in cardmaking! I chose my color scheme based on the colors featured in the ice cream.  My card is created with the super fun Blue Skies Collection, which is about to retire.  I popped up my ice cream and sentiment with 3-D foam tape for added dimension.  Here is a look at the complete paper pack-

The Paper Players #497

Time for a new challenge at The Paper Players!  Claire is hosting a sketch challenge this week.  All products are welcome, and we can't wait to see how you interpret the sketch!  Here is the original sketch design-

I went with a splash of color for simple thank you card.  My floral panel was created with the A Million Little Things stamp set.  I love the floral images in this set and of course the splatter stamps!  I can actually create splatters without splattering my desk in the process! I inked my images in Intense Black ink and then added color with Copics.

In keeping with the sketch design, I stamped my floral image twice at slightly staggered heights and added in a few splatters for interest.  A pop of yellow was added with embossed cardstock from the Blue Skies Collection.  Burlap twine was used as a stand in for the vertical strip in the sketch.  Everything was pulled together with a stitched frame. The stitched frame was applied with 3-D foam tape to account for the bulk that was added with the layers and burlap twine.

You're the Greatest!

I am back with another card from the Craft with Heart card subscription kit.  Super fun and super simple! I so love the added little touches, like the splatter background!  I love splatters...but  manage to splatter my whole desk when trying to create them!  These splatters are perfectly added without the mess!  My favorite part of the kit is the exclusive stamp set.....tons of sentiments...you can never have enough sentiment stamps in your collection!

When I assembled the die cut flower, I rolled the edges of each petal and layered with 3-D foam tape for added dimension.  It only takes a few seconds to roll the edges and adds so much more to your creation.  I roll my edges against a paper piercing tool....but you could easily use any small round object you happen to have on your desk!

Craft with Heart Cardmaking

I have so been missing out on the Craft with Heart card subscriptions!  I scored an annual subscription for Mother's Day and finally took some time out to create a few cards.  The kit you receive includes almost everything you need to create with....you only need to add the adhesive of your choice! You receive supplies to create 24 cards, 2 each of 12 designs.  If you have followed my blog for any length of time....you have probably noticed that I color outside the lines often!  So, whether you are a beginning crafter or one that beats to your own drummer, the kits will totally work for you! I love the basis of the kits....but it is a rare moment for me to make the same card twice, so the kits would of course be no different! For my first take, I added a stitched frame and a few sequins.  I popped up my sentiment strip with 3-D foam tape for added dimension.

For  take two, I flipped the sketch and changed up the colors. Honestly, I can't pick a fave....but think I like the contrast of take one the best!  The greatest thing about these cards....they came together in minutes!  Plus, you get a full color guide featuring all the cards....which would so come in handy as a sketch guide for future projects!  Here is a look at the complete kit and how the cards are intended to be created-

The cards are great as is...without you having to add a thing.  On the other hand, you can totally jazz them up with supplies that you probably already have! My favorite part of the kit, besides it comes right to your door.....is the exclusive stamp set! Each kit includes an awesome stamp set!  Check out all of these great sentiments-

The Paper Players #496

Time for a new challenge at The Paper Players!  Joanne is hosting a Clean and Simple Thank you challenge.  What do we mean by Clean and Simple? Minimal layers and embellishments with lots of white space.  I went with a sea themed thank you card...as I had new stamps that had yet to see ink!  I created my card with the From the Deep Blue stamp set, with coordinating Thin Cuts!

I can't begin to tell you how much I love this stamp set! I so love realistic stamp images.  Nothing against the cutesy stamps.....but realistic stamps are much more my style. This set is available with or without Thin Cuts.  While I love a little fussy cutting...check out those gorgeous ripples you get with the Thin Cut dies.

To create my card, I started with a stitched die cut panel of White Daisy cardstock. I stamped my sea background in Mint ink.  Yes, I said stamped!  While I so love the look of carefree backgrounds....I seem to be lacking in the ability to create them.  I am just never happy with the results.  Background stamps to the rescue....Strokes of an Artist is the perfect set if you have the same struggles!

I used the stamp in the top left to create my sea background. After stamping the first image, I flipped the stamp and inked again to give me a larger area.  I then stamped my coral and sentiment in Smoothie ink.  My seahorse was stamped in Lagoon ink and cut with the coordinating Thin Cut. I added a touch of color to the coral and seahorse with Copics.  The seahorse is mounted with foam tape for more dimension.  A few clear sequins finish off the card.

Palm Paradise

Hello Summer....I think it might have finally made it to the mountains!  I am at 85 degrees one day and 30 the next....but that is technically our summer  If you happen to live in a more tropical paradise or have visions of the tropics, the Palm Paradise set is for you!  The May/June catalog is quickly coming to a close and many items have sold out!  The Palm Paradise set is still available to order, here is a look at the complete set-

The set is available to order with or without the coordinating Thin Cut dies.  I will admit, I am a Thin Cut Junkie.....I just can not resist coordinating dies with my stamps!  They make crafting soo much easier!  You can check out all of the Close To My Heart products here.

The Paper Players #495

Happy Sunday!  Time for a new challenge at The Paper Players!  Laurie is hosting a color challenge this week.  The featured colors are Real Red, Tranquil Teal and Basic Grey.  I changed these up to Close To My Heart colors of Candy Apple, Lagoon and Pewter.

I have been seriously slacking this year in getting my Christmas cards completed.  I normally try and complete at least one Christmas card a week....and that has so not been happening! The colors totally work for a slightly non-traditional Christmas card.  The gorgeous ornaments in the For the Tree stamp set, can totally stand alone!  I stamped my image in Pewter ink and then added color with Copic markers. My ornament was then cut with the coordinating Ornament Thin Cuts.  I applied my ornament with 3-D foam tape to my embossed background for added dimension. A double bow in pewter finishes off the card.

If you would like to get started on  your Christmas cards, there is a variety of Christmas stamps available in the Online Only section of my website. It is never too early to get started, which is why I try to create my Christmas cards all year long!

Welcome Little One

I love using negative cut outs to create cards! It is super simple and you can get two cards in one.  The key is to strategically make your cuts.  When using my Cricut, I start out by creating a card sized rectangle and then adding my cuts to allow for creating two cards in one.

My Rocking Horse is from the Cricut Joys of the Season cartridge.  While, this is a Christmas themed collection, you can easily re purpose the images. After cutting the image, I added my pink polka dot based and then popped up the panel with 3-D foam tape for added dimension.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch #372

My goal for the week is to get all of the tags from the June Stamp of the Month, Garden Tags, inked up!  I really struggle with the desire to stamp vs. the need to clean house!  So, I have a quick card for today and then off to do floors!  I created my card based on the sketch challenge at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.

I followed the sketch fairly loosely....using my tags in place of the car shape.  I did manage to incorporate all of the parts of the sketch into my card.  To create my card, I inked up the dragonfly tag in Sapphire pigment ink and clear embossed onto water color paper.  This tag was sooo close to hitting the trash can!  I somehow managed to drop blobs of color on my finished tag.  Thankfully watercolor is a bit forgiving and I just added more water and moved the color around!  It is hard to tell from the photo, but the wings do have some sheen, thanks to a clear shimmer brush that was added over the top.

Just in case you missed the details, the June Stamp of the Month is Garden Tags.  You can add this set to a qualifying order for only $5!  This set is only available during the month of June.  There are also matching Thin Cut dies as well.

The Paper Players #494

Time for a new challenge at The Paper Players!  Anne Marie is hosting a theme challenge,  Sunshine & Rainbows.  I could certainly use some sunshine!  The weather has turned dark and dreary here...not to mention we are back in the 30's for temps!  So, yes....bring on the sunshine!

I took the challenge quite literally....I just so happened to have new stamps on my desk...with sunshine and rainbows! I managed to incorporate three new stamp sets into my CAS card! It is the perfect card to bring a little dose of cheer in the mailbox!

My rainbow is from the Blue Skies stamp set. The rainbow is actually three different stamps.  To get my rainbow of colors, I first inked up my lighter color, then rolled my stamp into the darker colored ink on each of the stamps.  I seriously gave some thought to stamp surgery and separating each of the rings. In the end, I decided that blending the inks together would be a much easier approach!

My cute little sunshine is from the Beautiful Day stamp set. I love that all of these stamp images have coordinating Thin Cuts.  I just might have stamp/die addiction going on!

Garden Tags Thank You

My work schedule has been a little crazy....which has drastically cut into my stamping time!  Finally made it back to the craft room to play with new stamps and create with my favorite challenges! This card was created based on the sketch challenge at Mojo Monday-

I started with the super fun June Stamp of the Month, Garden Tags, and built my card from there.  My tag stamp was inked with Intense Black ink and then color added with Copic markers.  My stamped image was die cut with the coordinating tag die.  I cut an extra tag to add interest to the layout.  Here is a look at all of the tags included in the June Stamp of the Month-

For the first time ever, the Stamp of the Month also has a coordinating Thin Cuts set!  The coordinating dies include fun accent pieces as well.  Here is a look at the complete set-

The gorgeous tone on tone embossed cardstock is from the Blue Skies promotion.  There are six gorgeous colors included in the pack.  You can view the cardstock pack here.  The Blue Skies products are only available while supplies last!
