Sweet Birthday Wishes

I pulled out some old favorites to create my blue themed birthday cake card.  While, I rotate supplies fairly often...there are those classic stamps that earn a permanent spot in the stamp collection.  This gorgeous cake stamp is one of them.  Super fun image....that always leaves me longing for a piece of cake!

My photos totally do not do the card justice.  The cake is covered in glitter, but my photos failed to pick up the shimmer.  To create my card, I stamped my images in Intense Black ink and then added color with Prismacolor pencils.  I blended out the colors with Gamsol.  Once I had my cake image colored, I masked off the cake tray and applied a clear shimmer to the icing.   It looks edible in person.....back to the part of me longing for a piece of cake!

I fussy cut my cake and banner and applied with 3-D foam tape for added dimension.  I mounted my banner onto wooden dowels into the cake.  AKA: toothpicks colored with a Copic marker.  I seriously think you can color anything with a Copic marker.  I have colored gems, sequins, ribbon, wood....marks in my furniture etc.  If it needs to be colored, Copic markers are your friend!  A few festive die cut banners and silver sequins finish off the card.

The Paper Players #506

Happy Sunday!  Time for a new challenge at The Paper Players!  Ann is hosting a Tic Tac Toe Challenge this week.  I was so close to using every option on the grid, but couldn't pull off adding ribbon to my project!  You only need to pick one row to play along!

September is quickly approaching, and with it comes TWO new catalogs by Close To My Heart. My card features some of the great new products as well as some old favorites.  My stamps are from the Bloom with Grace Collection.  This super fun collection features a variety of sunflower images.  Here  is a look at the set with coordinating Thin Cuts.

The set pairs perfectly with the gorgeous new Wood Grain paper pack.  I see many packs of this paper in my future!  Wood Grain is right up there with my love of all things burlap!

My card is based on the sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  I used my cluster of flowers as stand in for the trio of shapes in the sketch.

To create my card, I started with a stitched rectangle panel from the Stitched Rectangle Thin Cuts.  I applied a wash of Canary ink with the help from the Strokes of an Artist stamp set.  This stamp set is retiring in just a few short days and is available while supplies last!  I applied my sentiment with Espresso pigment ink and clear embossed. My sunflower image was inked in Intense Black ink and colored with Copics.  I die cut the stamped image with the coordinating Thin Cut die and attached a few loops of metallic thread.  I mounted the image with 3-D foam tape and added in a few gold sequins. I matted my panel and card with the new Scarlet cardstock.  This deep red will be perfect for your fall creations.

The Paper Players #504

Summer is so short lived in Wyoming.  The days are already getting shorter and the start of school is a definite sign that summer has come to an end.  In the spirit of school starting back in session, Claire is hosting a CAS Back to School themed challenge at The Paper Players!

Kudos to all the teachers out there and to all the parents who have become home school teachers!  Challenging times for everyone.  I greatly admire those with the patience to choose teaching as a profession. In keeping with the CAS theme,  I let the Teacher's Pet paper pad by Echo Park do all the work for me!  My base is a subtle print from the pack with tons of equations. I matted the sentiment panel with Twilight cardstock and added a few bitty banners in Saffron and Twilight. My sentiment panel is applied with 3-D foam tape for added dimension.  A few enamel dots complete the card.

The Paper Players #503

LiWhere has the time gone?  I have totally missed out on crafting the past week!  We are going to attempt going back to school next week.....so hopefully there might be a tad bit of normalcy returning to life! I so hope everyone is getting a little bit of normal back in their live's as well!  Joanne is hosting a new challenge this week at The Paper Players.  Time to get out the bold colors and start creating!

I decided the colors would be perfect for creating some colorful donuts!  I started by inking up my donut tops in Canary and Sapphire ink.  I then went in and colored my icing and sprinkles with Copic markers. To help bring my donuts to life, I went over my Copic coloring with Liquid Glass. My complete donuts are adhered with 3-D foam tape for added dimension.  When I finished creating my card, I was truly craving a donut!

This stamp set is super cute!  I was totally sold on just the sentiments alone!  This set is part of the generous hostess rewards program offered by Close To My Heart.  Want more info, feel free to contact me or check out the details here

The Paper Players #502

Time for a new challenge at The Paper Players! Laurie is hosting a theme challenge this week of Wedding/Anniversary.  I don't know of anyone getting married anytime soon, so I went with the Anniversary theme.

I combined the Anniversary theme challenge with the sketch challenge at MFT Stamps.  Congrats to MFT for celebrating their 500th challenge!  Here is the original sketch design-

To create my card, I started with a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" panel of White Daisy cardstock. I die cut the heart shape out of the panel first and then embossed the panel with a striped embossing folder.  3-D foam tape was applied to the back of the panel to create the shaker card. The sentiment was heat embossed with silver embossing powder.  A stitched rectangle frame and additional scattered stars finish off the card.
